Xiaomi Mi Note 2 to pack a surprise, says CEO Lei Jun while taking to a Chinese publication called 'Science bacteria' on toutiao.com. The company is working on several smartphones including Xiaomi Mi 5s, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 in addition to Mi Note 2. According to several reports online, the company will launch Mi Note 2 during in October.
Jun did not give any additional details about the surprise and what to expect from the upcoming device. The surprise can do anything to do with the pricing of the smartphone, but the Xiaomi is known for the low pricing of the smartphones. It can also do something with the rumoured E-Ink display in the smartphone, as announced by Russian technology website Andro-news.
According to Jun, the Mi Note 2 is currently undergoing mass production. The mass production stage gives us a hint to expect Mi Note 2 around early or mid-November. Previous reports suggest that the smartphone will sport a dual lens array setup with camera samples doing the rounds on the internet.
The smartphone is rumoured to come in two variants, with both the devices sporting a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset with the Adreno 530 GPU. One of the variants will come with 4GB of RAM coupled with 64GB of internal storage while the other variant will be equipped with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. One of the smartphones will supposedly have a Dual lens setup with 12MP rear camera modules while the other one will have a single 12MP camera module on the back.
Other specifications of the device are fairly normal ranging from 4G, VoLTE enabled SIM slots, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, QHD screen and USB Type-C port. There is no information available on the pricing and the availability at the time of writing.
