Xiaomi Mi Note 2 release date: CEO confirms flagship already in mass production – ChristianToday

While Xiaomi has yet to confirm a release date for its Mi Note 2 flagship, it is said that the launch is imminent, as the flagship is already in mass production.

According to Phone Arena, a post on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo has Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announcing that the Mi Note 2 is already entering mass production. Since the announcement has reportedly come from Xiaomi itself, it lends credence to rumors that the flagship will be coming out in mid-November. Previously, the Mi Note 2 is said to come out in September. However, Xiaomi chose to launch the step-up Mi 5s variant in a company-sponsored Sept. 27 event.

Meanwhile, although a confirmed release date has not been released, supposed leaks of the specs and features of the Mi Note 2 have already made their way online. A supposed teaser on Weibo reportedly confirms that the new flagship will sport a dual camera setup for its main shooter. However, the dual cam is said to be only for the upper versions of the device, with the base model only having a single-lens camera with OIS. It is also expected that an ultrafast fingerprint scanner will be one of the features. For its display, it is said that there may be two variations of the screen, with the base model having a 5.7-inch full HD display, while the top-tier variants will have a 2K display. All the screens are supposed to be dual-edge display.

In addition, it is said that there may be at least three iterations for the flagship, making the Mi Note 2 a full lineup. Its base model will have 4 GB of RAM, while a step-up version will carry 6 GB of RAM; both will come out with 64 GB of onboard storage. Meanwhile, a “Pro” version is also said to come out, featuring a massive 8-GB of RAM and up to 256mb of native storage. All three variants are supposed to come out with the new, step-up Snapdragon 821 processor.
