Xiaomi has just launched a pair of powerful handsets with the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus, but the company may have one more flagship phone up its sleeve for 2016. A new leak claims the long-rumored Mi Note 2 will arrive as soon as next month with a curved display and high-end specs.
the Chinese electronics industry analyst Pan Jiutang shared the news on Weibo this week, predicting that the Mi Note 2 could arrive by the end of October with new color options. However, he still endorses picking up the Mi 5 or Mi 5s Plus if you’re in China. Xiaomi actually responded to the post, but only to promote its current smartphones.
The Mi Note 2 is expected to feature a 5.7-inch Quad HD curved display like the one on Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7. It’s also rumored to pack a Snapdragon 821 processor, a 3,600 mAh battery and up to 8GB of RAM, though the company could also offer a cheaper version with 4GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 820 chip.
It’s unclear if the device will feature the same ultrasonic fingerprint print reader introduced with the Mi 5s, which uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sense ID technology to embed the biometric scanner right into the display glass.
Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed any plans for an event in October. The company seems to announce a new phone almost every month, however, so it’s definitely possible. It’s a bit out of character to schedule to flagship launches back-to-back, though, so you probably shouldn’t get your hopes up just yet.
