Xiaomi finally launched the Mi Note 2 phablet earlier this week at a special event in Beijing. It boasts a dual-curved, 5.7-inch display and at first glance, could easily ask mistaken for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Beneath the surface of the seat Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 clocked at 2.35 GHz, up to 6 GB of RAM and an impressive 4070 mAh battery. Thanks to a teardown, we can now take a closer look at what’s going on under the hood.
While there was plenty of anticipation for the Mi Note 2′s showcase, it was swiftly upstaged by the Mi MIX. Xiaomi’s 6.4-inch, edge-to-edge phablet is certainly exciting, but the Mi Note 2 arguably has the better marketplace potential. Not only does the global version of the mean Note 2 is ready to launch in any market, but it may pique the interest of Galaxy Note 7 owners and forms owners alike.
Aside from Qualcomm’s top-end mobile chipset, up to 6 GB of RAM and large battery, the Mi Note 2 houses plenty of other treats. There’s a 22.56-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel front shooter, NFC for mobile payments, the USB Type-C and a physical home button with an in-built fingerprint sensor. There’s up to 128 GB of storage and while it’s unfortunately non-expandable, it’s hard to complain at a $ 400-$ 500 price point.
If you’d like to have a proper peek at what’s going on beneath the Mi Note 2′s smooth and shiny exterior, do have a look through the gallery below. Encouragingly, there doesn’t appear to be a lot of glue going on, and the battery looks relatively straightforward to remove. This bodes well for those who may want to carry out DIY repairs on the cheap.
The device goes on sale in China on November 1st, and will surely reach other markets in due course.
