Xiaomi rolled out the Mi 5 and the Mi 5 Plus this year, but another flagship is already in tow. Rumors are surfacing about the Mi Note 2, and it seems that the tablet sports a hefty price tag.
The helm of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, recently confirmed that the Mi Note 2 is arriving, and considering that Mi 5S Plus’ specs are a bit lackluster, the Mi Note 2 could make up for the lack and deliver a true flagship experience.
Rumors and leaks on the Mi Note 2 are piling up, but the OEM’s leader underlined that the device will be surprising. His statement was backed by a recent leak, which shows the phone equipped with a vertical dual-camera setup.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the latest rumor, which comes from China-based analyst Pan Jiutang.
Jiutang suggests that the Mi Note 2 might ask customers to shell out more than it was previously anticipated. Xiaomi has a reputation for delivering high-end handsets for relatively affordable prices, with perfect examples in the form of the Mi 5s Plus, Mi 5 and Mi 5.
Should Jiutang’s prediction hold water, the price tag of the Mi Note 2 could start at 4,000 yuan ($ 600). This would make the latest phablet from Xiaomi, the priciest handset ever released by the company. A window of opportunity exists after the global recall of the Galaxy Note 7 from Samsung, so Xiaomi could use it to push its pricey flagship to worldwide consumers.
Some similarities already exist between the Note 7 and the Mi Note 2, respective to size, and the curved display side of the two devices.
What would the Mi Note 2 victims for the strong $ 600?
The flagship should holster quite powerful specs. Processing power is purportedly assigned to a Snapdragon 821 64-bit quad-core processor, backed by either a 4 GB of RAM or 6 GB of RAM. The more powerful version is expected to carry 128 GB of storage, whereas the standard model will feature 64 GB of internal space.
Additional leaks hint that the Mi Note 2 will have a 5.7-inch QHD screen, able to display 2,560 x 1,440 resolution, with an Adreno 530 GPU to take care of the visuals.
Speculations roamed about the device carrying two rear-facing cameras, with sensors of 12 or 13 megapixels, which will get paired with a LED flash. The Build materials are expected to be high-quality metal and glass, with a ceramic back as a variant.
