Ever since Xiaomi entered the smartphone space, it has launched a number of smartphones in different ranges to cater the entry-level, mid-range and high-end users. After launching the Mi 5, the flagship smartphone earlier this year, the company recently unveiled a slightly bumped up version, the Mi 5 and the Mi 5 Plus. Now, the company is gearing up to launch the Mi Note 2 sometime later this month, which is expected to come with Samsung Galaxy S7 edge like dual edge curved display. The smartphone has been leaked at numerous occasions in the form of photos, renders and benchmark results, giving us a fair idea on what to expect. But it’s not the only one that the company is gearing up to launch. Xiaomi is also working on three more smartphones, including the Mi 6, Mi 5 c and Redmi 4. Here’s a roundup of everything we know about these smartphones so far.

Beginning with the Mi Note 2, the smartphone is likely to feature a metal frame with front and back glass design, the dual camera setup at the back, and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, just like the Mi 5s. No doubt, it is one of the highly-anticipated smartphones right now and adding to the hype, the CEO Lei Jun mentioned that the Mi Note 2 mass production has already started and it will come with a surprise.' But, it remains to be seen as to exactly what the surprise is Jun talking about, which we will only know when the smartphone goes official.

At the back, a pair of 16-megapixel cameras are expected with Qualcomm’s ClearSight technology, similar to what we have seen on the Mi 5s Plus. It uses an RGB color sensor and a monochrome sensor for capturing photos with reduced noise and richer details. A front-facing 5-megapixel selfie camera is also expected.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 could pack a massive 4,000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging support. On the software front, the smartphone could run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based MIUI 8 out-of-the-box. However, with recent leaks hinting at Mi Note 2 Pro variant with 8GB of RAM, 256GB of onboard storage and Android 7.0 Nougat-based MIUI 8, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the Mi Note 2 turns out to be the first Xiaomi smartphone to boot Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

In terms of pricing, the Mi Note 2 could set you back by 2,499 (approximately Rs 25,000) for the 64GB variant and RMB 2,799 (approximately Rs 28,200) for the 128GB variant. This would be pretty affordable compared to Samsung’s offering.

Xiaomi Mi 5c specifications

After launching the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus, the Mi 5 smartphone could have one more variant – the Mi 5c. A leaked teaser recently surfaced showing off an E-Ink secondary display at the back. Secondary displays aren’t a new thing. Samsung tried it with the Note Edge, where it had a separate curved display on the right side to display notifications, alerts and more. LG’s V10 also boasts a secondary display where you can see the number of unread emails, unread texts, weather and other notifications, while the primary display remains turned off. And then, there was the Yota Phone which came with a full e-ink display on the back. In case of the Mi 5c, Xiaomi seems to be taking a different approach. At the back panel, we can see the camera module, LED flash and a rectangular strip of E-ink display which shows the current time, the email followed by the subject line. The design of the E-ink display also version us of the Nokia branding strip on the back of Nokia Lumia 900 and Lumia 920.
