Xiaomi is expected to introduce two new special phone features — an incredible 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage to its upcoming Mi Note 2. This storage capacity is at least twice as much as what most phones are offering.
The 256 GB of RAM is unheard of in Xiaomi’s smartphone devices. However, the developers might as well make the upgrade after the latest iPhone 7 was introduced with such a feature.
Xiaomi is known for its stylish smartphones. Many Xiaomi junkies are expecting great things from the Mi Note 2. Rumors are thick that the Mi Note 2′s body will be made of metal. Sources say that recent leaks about the device’s screen suggest that the new device could have curved edges, much like Samsung’s S7 Edge and Note 7. Xaomi could stick to its massive 5.7-inch smartphone or the creators could come up with a more powerful version.
In recent smartphone camera technology, the phones are loaded with dual-lens setups. The Mi Note 2 would most likely follow this trend. A curved edge may feature a 12-megapixel camera, while a flat screen may be equipped with a single lens yet more powerful 16-megapixel camera.
But should Xiaomi come out with the two versions, expect that there will be a difference in the cameras’ specs as well as in performance. The rumors hint that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor will be a core feature of the Mi Note 2.
Two battery sizes have already been featured in the rumors, one with a 3,600 mAh cell and another mentioning a 4,000 mAh capacity, with fast battery charging: 83 percent in 30 minutes.
As for the cost, speculations suggest that if Xiaomi produces a lower-end 4 GB model, it could cost $ 375. A 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage option could be priced at $ 450. While the 8 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage space phone could have a hefty price of $ 525.
Xiaomi has scheduled an event on Sept. 27. Fans of the smartphone line might hear official announcements about the device and its launching by then.
