‘About Phone’ screenshot reveals variant of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Pro … – Phone Arena

Yesterday, we told you that Xiaomi had late out invitations for a September 27th event that would unveil the Xiaomi Mi 5s. This is an enhanced version of the Xiaomi Mi 5 that comes with some pretty high-end specs. Also expected to be unveiled soon, possibly on the same date, is the Xiaomi Mi Note 2. Earlier speculation called for the handset to be available in two variants, one with 6GB of RAM.

The first generation of Xiaomi Mi Note was released in January 2015. Four months later, the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro was launched. And while not much has been said about a possible Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Pro, a screenshot claiming to show the “About Phone” page for the device reveals that there will be a version of the phone that will contain 8GB of RAM. Other specs revealed by this tab include a quad-core 2.6 GHz CPU, which could be part of the Snapdragon 821 chipset rumored to be driving the phone.

The leaked image, which appeared on the Weibo page of a tipster in China, reveals that the handset has Android 7.0 pre-installed with MIUI 8 running on top. Considering that several months separated the release of the Mi Note and the Mi Note Pro, there is a strong possibility that the Mi Note 2 Pro will not be unveiled for a few months yet.

And there is also the possibility that the screenshot is a fake. With that in mind, we suggest taking this story with a grain of salt.
