Fan-made Xiaomi Mi Note 2 renders surface in pastel colors – Phone Arena

Now rumored to be coming to market in November, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is one power packed beast of a phablet if the leaked specs are legit. While multiple variants are possible, the premium version should feature a 5.7-inch Force Touch enabled AMOLED screen, carrying a 1440 x 2560 resolution. Under the hood you’ll find the Snapdragon 821 SoC with a quad-core 2.4 GHz CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU. 8GB of RAM is inside along with 256GB of internal storage.

A 16MP camera adorns the rear of the phone while an 8MP front-facing camera snaps selfies and handles video chats. A 3600mAh battery keeps the lights on, and the Quick Charge will rapidly power up the juices inside the device.

Today, images of fan-based renders surfaced on China’s Weibo. From the pastel-like hue on the different colored units, to the dual-camera setup on the back, this is one sleek but still powerful handset. The design is based on previously disseminated rumors. An image of the screen that was previously leaked revealed a dual curved edge display on the handset, similar to the one found on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

But these renders, exclude that feature; according to the creator of these images, since the dual-curved edge glass was not employed on the recently released Xiaomi Mi 5s, it most likely won’t be used on the Mi Note 2 range. Also missing is the rear fingerprint scanner, possibly replaced by Qualcomm’s ultrasonic biometric reader found embedded in the screen.

An invitation that was published online gave fans a hint that the Xiaomi Mi 5S is the flagship device to be revealed in the press event as it depicted a huge “S” symbol. As for the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, the release of the much-awaited device may be pushed to next month.

Xiaomi Mi 5 leaks suggested that the device will carry the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.4 GHz and the Adreno 530 GPU clocked at 650MHz. It is also expected to equip 6GB of RAM and an internal storage capacity of 256GB according to GizmoChina.

More rumored specs of Xiaomi Mi 5S include a 16MP camera shooter with PDAF and 4-axis OIS. The device is also believed to feature 4K video recording at 30fps.

Meanwhile, it can be recalled that fans previously thought that the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is the next flagship smartphone that the company was working on. However, the official online invitation with a large “S” symbol suggested that the Xiaomi Mi 5S and note the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is the next device that the company plans to release.

Additionally, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 has not been certified by the Chinese Telecom Equipment Certification Authority (“TEENA”) yet according to the International Business Times. This could indicate that the device is still not prepared for its unveiling which positions the company to unveil the Xiaomi Mi 5S instead. Xiaomi Mi Note 2 release date, specs, rumors: Mi Note, follow-up to the launch after … – ChristianToday

Xiaomi

Featured in the image is the Xiaomi Mi Note

Previously, speculations suggest that the new Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will come out sometime this month. However, with the Mi 5s supposedly launching this week, a new schedule may see the Mi Note 2 launching later this year instead.

Xiaomi has already confirmed that it will be having a press event on Sept. 27. However, the supposed leaks that have been surfacing online only point to the Mi 5s being launched. There are speculations going around, suggesting that the press event may see the two flagships being unveiled. However, having the Mi Note 2 being co-launched with the Mi 5s seems unlikely. If this was the case, the two flagships will have release dates that are quite close to each other, and this would likely cause the two lineups to compete with each other on the market.

It is highly likely that, with the release of the Mi 5, Xiaomi will then be set for a late 2016 release of the Mi Note 2, probably just in time for the holidays. This is possible, given that the Mi Note 2 is being positioned as one of the most premium flagships once it releases.

According to GSM Arena, the alleged leaks on the specs of the upcoming flagship point out that a top-tier phablet flagship is in the works. One of the premium variant of the Mi Note 2 will reportedly feature a Snapdragon 821 chipset. This is most likely since Qualcomm has already confirmed the release of the step-up processor. However, what’s interesting to note is that a new “Pro” version of the Mi Note 2 is supposed to come out with massive 8 GB of RAM and at least 256 GB of onboard storage. The supposed leaks also point out that the new iteration will come out with the Android Nougat 7.0 onboard, layered with Xiaomi’s own MiUI platform, and a dual-curved display like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

Indian Airline Says Samsing Note 2 Emitted Smoke in Plane – ECN – ECNmag.com

A Samsung Note 2 phone emitted smoke and sparks on a flight from Singapore to southern India, the airline said.

The phone was found in the bag of a passenger in an overhead bin after other passengers reported smelling smoke in the plane, IndiGo said. It said there was no fire but sparks and smoke were coming from the phone.

The crew used a fire extinguisher and then placed the phone in a container filled with water in a lavatory, the Indian airline said in its statement.

The aircraft made a normal landing at the Chennai airport, and all passengers deplaned normally, it said.

The phone will be examined to determine the cause of the incident, the airline said.

The company said it had been informed of an incident in India with the Samsung Note 2, which uses a replaceable battery and was released in 2012. “We are in touch with local authorities to gather more information and investigate whether there were any external factors involved,” the company statement said.

Samsung has recalled 2.5 million newer Note 7 phones after dozens of reports of battery fires attributed to a manufacturing flaw. Authorities in several countries have banned their use in aircraft.

More Samsung Galaxy Phone Problems: Note 2 Catches Fire On IndiGo Flight … – Tech Times

the Samsung battery woes continue as a Galaxy Note 2 handset catches fire on an Indian flight and a Galaxy S7 edge burns into the Philippines.

The Galaxy Note 7, which was launched and released in August, has been a topic of shame for Samsung because of faulty batteries. Many reports of Galaxy Note 7 battery exploding or catching fire have been reported in many parts of the world.

The Galaxy Note 7 battery snafu has caused the use of it on flights to be banned by aviation authorities of several countries. Samsung had to temporarily halt sales of the newly launched phablet and offer exchange units for the potentially hazardous ones.

While Samsung has officially apologized for the Galaxy Note 7 battery fiasco, it seems that the battery issue is also present in other models made by the Korean company.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 2 in October 2012 and many people are still using the phablet. Reports suggest that passengers in an India-based airline IndiGo found smoke coming from an overhead baggage bin just before landing.

The cabin crew of the Singapore-to-Chennai flight found that a passenger’s Galaxy Note 2 into a bag had caught fire. Crew members were swift to put out the fire with an extinguisher and put the device into a water container.

“We are aware of an incident involving one of our devices. At Samsung, customer safety is our highest priority. We are in touch with the relevant authorities to gather more information, and are looking into the matter,” said a Samsung spokesperson.

Another case of a Samsung handset catching fire was reported in the Philippines. Weng Briones claims that her Galaxy S7 edge started burning for no apparent reason. The user also posted some images of her Galaxy S7 edge on Facebook, which clearly shows that the device had gone through high temperatures.

According to Briones, her daughter was using the phone when suddenly smoke started to come out of it. She splashed water on the phone and then covered it with a wet towel.

The user was disappointed with the device and took it to the Samsung store from where she had bought it. Briones claimed a refund because she does not want another device in exchange for the burnt one.

The staff at the store gave a full refund and the company’s marketing head gave a call to the customer confirming that Samsung will investigate the incident.

Although, Briones did not take a new phone in exchange of her old phone, she praised Samsung for the after sales support she received.

“Kudos to all the staff of the Samsung SM City Taytay for their immediate action regarding my issue. Inspite of the unfortunate incident, I am however, impressed by their aftersales support. Much respect to Samsung. Keep safe everyone,” says Briones.

Samsung phones are one of the most popular Android handsets in the market. However, the latest incidents involving the battery will make users think twice before buying a Samsung smartphone.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 release date, specs update: Mi Note to have dual-lens camera? – The Christian Times

Xiaomi is expected to introduce two new special phone features — an incredible 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage to its upcoming Mi Note 2. This storage capacity is at least twice as much as what most phones are offering.

The 256 GB of RAM is unheard of in Xiaomi’s smartphone devices. However, the developers might as well make the upgrade after the latest iPhone 7 was introduced with such a feature.

(Official Mi Note Website)Promotional image for Xiaomi Mi Note

Xiaomi is known for its stylish smartphones. Many Xiaomi junkies are expecting great things from the Mi Note 2. Rumors are thick that the Mi Note 2′s body will be made of metal. Sources say that recent leaks about the device’s screen suggest that the new device could have curved edges, much like Samsung’s S7 Edge and Note 7. Xaomi could stick to its massive 5.7-inch smartphone or the creators could come up with a more powerful version.

In recent smartphone camera technology, the phones are loaded with dual-lens setups. The Mi Note 2 would most likely follow this trend. A curved edge may feature a 12-megapixel camera, while a flat screen may be equipped with a single lens yet more powerful 16-megapixel camera.

But should Xiaomi come out with the two versions, expect that there will be a difference in the cameras’ specs as well as in performance. The rumors hint that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor will be a core feature of the Mi Note 2.

Two battery sizes have already been featured in the rumors, one with a 3,600 mAh cell and another mentioning a 4,000 mAh capacity, with fast battery charging: 83 percent in 30 minutes.

As for the cost, speculations suggest that if Xiaomi produces a lower-end 4 GB model, it could cost $ 375. A 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage option could be priced at $ 450. While the 8 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage space phone could have a hefty price of $ 525.

Xiaomi has scheduled an event on Sept. 27. Fans of the smartphone line might hear official announcements about the device and its launching by then.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 (Mi Note Pro) release date deferred, not coming … – International Business Times, India Edition

It has been reported that the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 aka Mi Note Pro would be announced along with Mi 5s at the company’s scheduled event next week. However, emerging reports indicate that it won’t happen. The much-awaited device is now likely to be released in October.

It is now confirmed that the Chinese technology giant will unveil only Mi 5s on September 27, which means the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 could be pushed to next month. The fact that Mi Note 2 hasn’t received certification from the Chinese telecom equipment certification authority, TENAA, is a clear indication that Xiaomi is not yet ready for its launch.

the Mi Note 2 has been cleared by the Chinese CCC authority (China Compulsory Certification), but not TENAA.

Xiaomi is reportedly releasing two variants of Mi Note 2 – one with a 64GB internal memory and a 4GB of RAM priced at 2,499 Yuan, and the other with a 128GB internal storage and a 6GB of RAM priced at 2,799 Yuan.

According to reports that have surfaced so far, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will sport a 5.7-inch 2K dual curved display, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor clocking at 2.6 GHz and run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system.

It is also reported that the device will come packed with a 256GB internal storage and an 8GB of RAM, and run Android 7.0 Nougat based MIUI 8 operating system, but nothing is confirmed at the moment.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 emit sparks and smoke onboard IndiGo flight from … – International Business Times UK

A Samsung Galaxy Note 2 smartphone began smoking during a commercial flight from Singapore to Chennai, India on Friday (23 September), India’s aviation regulator said. After smelling smoke coming from the overhead baggage compartments, passengers onboard the IndiGo flight, 6E-054, alerted the cabin crew who saw smoke and sparks coming from a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phone in a piece of hand luggage.

The flight crew used a fire extinguisher on the phone before putting it in a container filled with water until the plane landed, the airline is owned by InterGlobe Aviation said in a statement.

“The aircraft made a normal landing at the Chennai airport, and all passengers were deplaned as per normal procedure,” IndiGo told Reuters.

The latest incident comes after Samsung’s worldwide recall of its new Note 7 phones due to faulty batteries causing the handsets to catch fire while they are being charged or in normal use. The company is offering free replacements or refunds for the handsets.

However, there have been no previous reports of similar issues facing the older Note 2 model that was first released in 2012.

“We are aware of an incident involving one of our devices. At Samsung, customer safety is our highest priority,” a Samsung spokesperson said. “We are in touch with the relevant authorities to gather more information and are looking into the matter.”

Following the incident, a spokesperson for India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DCGA) said it plans to issue an advisory to airlines, warning all passengers to keep their Samsung Note phones switched off during the flight or avoid travelling with the devices altogether, the Guardian reports.

The aviation authority has also reportedly summoned the Samsung representatives to its New Delhi office to discuss the issue on Monday (26 September). Samsung has not yet released the Galaxy Note 7 in India.

Several airlines, including Virgin Australia and Qantas, and regulators across the globe have issued their own advisories urging passengers with the Note 7 note to charge their phones turned off during a flight. The Federal Aviation Authority in the US also issued a warning to passengers strongly advising them not to turn on or plug in their phone onboard.

the Samsung and the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission issued an official recall of Samsung’s latest smartphone last week. The agency reported receiving 92 reports of the batteries overheating in the US alone, including 26 reports of burns and 55 reports of property damage.

The Korean smartphone maker’s Galaxy Note 7, the problems began just days after the device’s launch in mid-August with a slew of exploding device incidents, forcing the company to launch an official recall programme for all 2.5 million Note 7s sold. Samsung’s Note 7 woes saw the company take a massive $ 22bn (£16bn) hit to its market value in just 2 days as the company tried to launch its latest device about a month before rival Apple’s latest iPhone release.

The company recently announced that more than 500,000 new Galaxy Note 7 replacement devices have arrived in the US and shipped to carrier and retail stores to be available from September 21.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 catches fire in the aircraft in Chennai – ETtech.com

A Samsung Note 2 led to a sparks and smoke in an IndiGo flight flying between Singapore and Chennai on Friday morning, said a Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) official.

Confirming the incident, IndiGo said that ‘a few passengers travelling on 6E-054 flight from Singapore to Chennai noticed the smoke smell in the cabin this morning (September 23, 2016) and immediately alerted the cabin crew on board.’

“The crew quickly identified minor smoke coming from the hat-rack of the seat 23 C. Taking the precautionary measure, the cabin crew on priority relocated all the passengers on other seats, and further observed smoke being emitted from a Samsung Note 2, which was placed in the baggage (of a passenger) in the overhead bin. There was no fire observed but sparks were observed,” the airline said in a statement.

The statement adds that the crew discharged the fire extinguisher which is as per the Standard Operating Procedures prescribed by the aircraft manufacturer, ‘and quickly transferred to the Samsung note 2 into a container filled with water into the lavatory. The aircraft made a normal landing at the Chennai airport, and all passengers were deplaned as per normal procedure. This equipment (Samsung mobile) will be further examined by the concerned departments.’

The DGCA is likely to meet Samsung officials on Monday. “We had called Samsung to discuss the issue on Monday,” said a senior DGCA official. A statement from Samsung is awaited.

The smoke and the Sparks from the Samsung Note 2 has been reported at a time when the Indian aviation regulator has put restrictions on using Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 smartphone on flights. The Indian regulator’s action was after a growing list of nations that have taken similar steps citing potential fire hazard.

The DGCA, in an order issued on September 9, 2016, had banned passengers from carrying Galaxy 7 in ‘switch on’ mode on flight, or stowing them in any checked in luggage.

the Passenger can, however, carry such phone in ‘switch off’ mode and check cabin baggage, it said in Friday’s order.

The warning followed a global recall of the phones after reports of the devices exploding or catching fire. Samsung investigated the problem and found that the rechargeable batteries inside the phones were at fault.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phone emit sparks and smoke during flight in India – The Guardian

A Samsung Galaxy Note 2 smartphone started smoking during a commercial flight in India on Friday, India’s aviation regulator said.

the Passengers on board the IndiGo flight spotted smoke filtering from the overhead luggage compartment and alerted the cabin crew. Sparks and smoke were seen coming from the Samsung Galaxy device, the airline, owned by InterGlobe Aviation, confirmed in an emailed statement.

The IndiGo flight was on its way to Chennai from Singapore, the airline said, but there was no damage to the plane and the flight landed safely.

The incident comes after Samsung recalled its new Note 7 phones across the globe due to faulty batteries causing the devices to catch fire while charging or in normal use.

The problems knocked billions of dollars off the market value of Samsung Electronics, which had tried to pre-empt rival Apple by launching the almost $ 900 Note 7 on 19 August, about a month ahead of the latest iPhone release.

There have been no previous reports of similar problems with the Note 2 model, first released in 2012.

A spokesperson for India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said it will send out an advisory to airlines warning passengers to keep all the Samsung Note smartphones switched off during the flight or avoid carrying the phones on commercial jets altogether.

The DGCA has called Samsung representatives to its office in New Delhi on Monday. A Samsung spokesman in India had no immediate comment but said the company would issue a statement soon.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 the plane fire is likely unrelated to Note7 explosion – Mashable

Things just keep getting worse and worse for Samsung.

After weeks of investigating cases of Galaxy Note7 phones catching on fire, destroying people’s cars, and even injuring people, Samsung and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued an official recall for 1 million of the phones sold in the U. S.

As per the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), affected Note7 phones with defective batteries must be turned off and can’t be used during flights. Many public transportation agencies like New York City’s MTA have also urged riders not to use the Note7.

And then just as a safe replacement Note7 shipments started arriving on Wednesday and Samsung announced about 500,000 phones of the 1 million recalled in the U.s. had been exchanged, a Galaxy Note 2 catches on fire during an IndieGo flight from Singapore to Chennai.

India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Samsung are currently investigating why the phone caught on fire in the first place.

“We are in touch with the relevant authorities to gather more information, and are looking into the matter,” a spokesperson from Samsung India said in an emailed statement to Mashable India.

A Samsung spokesperson provided the following statement to Mashable over email: "We have been informed about an incident in India involving a Note 2, which uses a replaceable battery and was released in 2012. We are in touch with local authorities to gather more information and investigate whether there were any external factors involved."

Following the incident, the DGCA has reportedly advised flyers to “exercise caution while flying with the Samsung Note devices,” according to spokesperson who spoke to The India Times. “They should either keep these devices switched off or not travel with them.”

The last thing Samsung needs is another disaster that paints the company in more bad light.

Note (excuse the pun) the wording and how it urges against using essentially all the Samsung Galaxy Note phones during flights. That includes any Note produced since the original device launched in 2011.

It’s basically a declaration that SAMSUNG PHONES ARE DANGEROUS.

Talk about terrible timing.

The last thing Samsung needs is another disaster that paints the company in a worse light. It’s especially tough at a time when the company’s doing everything it can to prevent further tarnishing of its brand. It’s also trying to reassure consumers that it has the Note7 situation under control and that new devices are safe to use.

What Samsung doesn’t need right now is people scrutinizing the quality of all of the phones it produces.

But alas, you can’t control public perception. People are going to point fingers — even if the Note 2 incident is pure coincidence — at Samsung and demand answers.

And that’s what sucks the most for Samsung. The Note7 issue may blow over quickly if it’s able to successfully recall even 95 percent of the defective phones, but the fire damage will probably take a lot longer to repair.

Consumers, as loyal as some of us are, really aren’t that loyal. We vote with our money and if a company can’t assure that its products are safe to use, we’ll leave in a heartbeat. Trust is not something easy to regain after major disasters.

Still, if you’re a Samsung Galaxy Note user, I wouldn’t worry at all.

While we won’t know the real cause of the Note 2 incident until the official investigations are completed, it seems highly unlikely the fire is related to the Note7 defects, which prompted the global recall.

As eagle-eyed techies know, the Note 2 was released in 2012 and Samsung no longer sells the phone. And based on the image of the damaged phone that was made public, it looks like the removable battery expanded, which caused it to catch on fire.

The cause could very likely be a third-party battery and not an official one. While some third-party batteries meet very strict quality control requirements, there are many that don’t and those are the ones that are more likely to catch on fire.

Scary as a phone catching on fire the on a flight is, it’s happened before. Last year, an iPhone 6 inexplicably burst into flames aboard a flight going to Hawaii. And in 2014, there were two reported cases of iPhones catching on fire in people’s pockets. Do a Google search and you’ll find many more that happen every year.

It’s unfortunate, but like I said earlier after the Note7 explosions started rolling in: the Any phone could explode. There’s no such thing as an explosion-proof phone.

In fact, any device with a battery could potentially explode or catch on fire. Companies do their best to create controllers that monitor and regulate a battery to prevent it from overcharging and overheating, but defective batteries can happen (as was the case with the Note7) and people can (and do) push their phones beyond their advertised limits.

Generally, most phones go through their lifespans should without any issues. If you’re using an old Note or Samsung phone with removable batteries, we highly recommend using the official batteries and not cheap knockoffs; the lower prices are tempting, but not worth the potential risk and injury.

It’s just really, really too bad for poor Samsung. The company just can’t catch a break.

play mobile was in the 90′s basically synonymous with the Nintendo Gameboy. But when it started talking about that Nokia would give into the game in the early 2000s with a gadget that not only went on to play with, but also making a call, many became excited.

the n-gage had a design inspired by the world of gaming, but would go to use as a telephone also. Unfortunately was not particularly good at any of it. For that call you got to hold the phone so that it looked like a taco. To change the game you got to take apart the phone and poking in the game behind the battery.

Nokia lied to about how many n-gage to they sold. The company claimed that they sold 400 000 the first two weeks. But independent marknadsanalysfirmor meant rather that there was approximately 6 000. Later, Nokia to stated figures on the number of units you have sent to the dealers and not those bought by customers.

in 2004, the year after the launch, Nokia had sold one million n-gage. However, it was a far cry from the six million man was the target. The flop was total.
