Top 5 Smartphones to Consider Before Buying the Galaxy Note 2 [May, 2014] – Gotta Be Mobile

By  |

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 might be turning two later on this year but thanks to solid hardware and updated software, the device remains a viable option for those that want the power of the Galaxy Note but don't want to shell out a ton of cash. While we won't stop consumers from looking into the Galaxy Note 2, we do want to bring up some devices that we think prospective buyers should consider before buying one.

All the way back in August of 2012, Samsung took the stage ahead of  IFA 2012 in Berlin, Germany and announced the Galaxy Note 2, the highly anticipated successor to the original Galaxy Note that helped set the stage for Samsung's two-pronged attack against Apple, HTC and others.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 arrived with a number of big time improvements. It featured a bigger and better display, a fast quad-core processor, a solid camera, brand new software for the device's bundled S Pen, and an arrival on a number of U.S. carriers. The original Galaxy Note was only available on AT&T and for a short while, on T-Mobile.

These impressive additions to the Galaxy Note series compelled many people to invest into Samsung's large screen smartphone. They, along with a cheap price tag and updated software, have helped to keep the Galaxy Note 2 relevant almost two years after its arrival on shelves.

At this point, it's a hard device to recommend with the Galaxy Note 3 out and the Galaxy Note 4 on the way but we can't fault those that are interested because of its price tag.

What we will say though is that there are a number of smartphones that we think consumers need to consider before buying the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Keep in mind, our list may differ from yours but these are the devices that Gotta Be Mobile editors have selected for recognition this month. We feel like they deliver the best, all-around package at the moment. This list will change from month to month as rumored devices get closer to announcement and announced devices get released.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Before buying the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, prospective buyers will certainly want to check out its more powerful brother, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The Galaxy Note 3 is more expensive but for the extra money, buyers will get an assortment of powerful upgrades.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 offers an improved design, a better camera, a nicer full HD display, better S Pen functionality, and a higher quality processor which is important for a device in this class.

The Galaxy Note 3 price has dropped dramatically since its arrival back in September and Amazon is selling it for a fraction of its original $ 299.99 on-contract price tag. It’s a device that’s worthy of a look and we recommend ruling it out before buying a device that is clearly on its last legs.
