The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update has been released, but instead of it being made available for users in Q1, it has now become apparent that the roll out will be done in a phased manner for the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE.

While people using Vodafone in the U.K. have reported that they have received their update, users in other regions may have to wait a bit longer. This is because carriers and Samsung execute update roll outs in stages. However, users also have the option to install third party firmware to update to Android’s latest operating system.

The modifications in the update include white status bar icons, cloud printing as well as a camera app shortcut on the lockscreen and a transparent status bar. Usual bug fixes will be incorporated.

Meanwhile the Android 4.3 Jellybean update is now being rolled out to users sporting the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Samsung has also started rolling out the newest Android 4.4.2 KitKat software update worldwide. France is the first country to be seeded the update, while other countries are expected to follow suit.

The stock firmware for Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update is now available.

Users of the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 2 are now able to update their devices to Android 4.4.2 KitKat via a custom firmware. They are able to update to the latest Android operating system through the LiquidSmooth Android 4.4.2 KitKat, while the ROM is for Galaxy S2 SGH-T989.
