Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon … – Gospel Herald

Verizon is rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 over-the-air on Tuesday, four months after Samsung released the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3.

The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update was actually available on Monday, but was only available over-the-wire. Over-the-wire downloading requires the user to connect the device to a PC computer. Prior to the upgrade, Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy Note 3 users were limited to installing the previous Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

True to reputation, Verizon is once again the last major U.S. carrier to roll out the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade. In comparison, rival-carrier Sprint was the first to release the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update, followed by other carriers that include U.S. Cellular, T-Mobile, and AT&T.

Tardiness on Verizon’s part did not stop impatient Galaxy Note 3 users from downloading the unofficial Android 4.4 KitKat update, which was available earlier this month. The hack is still available as of Tuesday, but it is best to install the Android 4.4 KitKat update through Verizon instead.

As of now, Verizon has not listed a change log for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade. When the change log will be made available is uncertain at this time, but quite possibly it will be soon.

These recent developments come none too soon, as recent rumors suggest that Google may push out the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update anytime this year. In addition, there is speculation that Google is also working on the Android 4.5 – making Android 4.4.3 KitKat the last of the Android 4.4 updates. An Android 4.4.4 update seems unlikely, unless Google fails to eliminate all major bugs from the Android 4.4 KitKat.
