KitKat hitting Sprint Galaxy Note 2 and international Mega 6.3 – Android Authority

samsung-galaxy-mega-6.3-bottom-right

Samsung is busy pushing updates to many of its recent devices, and today we have a double feature for you, comprising of KitKat servings for Sprint's venerable Galaxy Note 2 and the international version of the Galaxy Mega 6.3.

Starting with the Note 2, according to Sprint's update status page, software update L900VPUBNE2 will bring Android 4.4 KitKat and nothing else. While the changelog is cryptic, we know from updates to other models, that the Note 2 will gain features like support for cloud printing, NFC tap-to-pay support, all white icons in the status bar, full-screen album art, and the ability to put a camera shortcut on the lockscreen. There's also the promise of improved performance and reduced battery consumption, as well as various stability fixes.

Sprint Note 2 users should get an update notification soon, but you can always try your luck with a manual check from Settings > About Phone > Software Updates.

Moving on to the aptly named Galaxy Mega 6.3, users in Russia report (model GT-I9200) that they are now able to update their phone/tablet to Android 4.4.2 KitKat via the Kies companion software. There are no reports of OTAs just yet, but those shouldn't be far behind. Changes should be similar to those listed above for the Note 2. The update brings firmware number to I9200XXUDNE4.

Now that the update wave for the Mega 6.3 has started, expect more countries to get it, with unlocked models getting first dibs, followed by carrier models down the road. And, considering how similar the "smaller" Mega 5.8 is to the 6.3, its KitKat update shouldn't be far behind either.

Android 4.4 KitKat Update Arrives: Sprint Galaxy Note 2 And US Cellular Galaxy … – International Business Times

The Sprint Galaxy Note 2 and the U.S. Cellular Galaxy S3 are the latest Galaxy models to receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update after several months of user anticipation.

Both Sprint (NYSE:S) and U.S. Cellular (NYSE:USM) announced the update on their respective software support pages on Thursday. The Galaxy Note 2 L900VPUBNE2 build software is over-the-air, while the Galaxy S3 R530UVXCND4 build software is available over-the-air and also by download and USB installation. Users can also manually prompt the update by accessing Settings > General > About Device > Software update on their handsets; they will want to have their devices charged at least 50 percent before proceeding with the Android 4.4 installation.

U.S. Cellular details a full change log, which includes updates and enhancements to the Galaxy S3 user interface, the new Hangouts app (which is integrated with the Samsung messaging app), faster multitasking, and wireless printing capabilities. Other enhancements associated with the Android 4.4 KitKat update include enhanced music access, easy camera access on the lock screen, an integrated location menu, and new sound controls. Sprint's change log says its Galaxy Note 2 will get the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, which should include all of the aforementioned enhancements.

The Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 are among 14 Galaxy devices that Samsung Electronics Co. (KRX:005930) confirmed will receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update. The manufacturer says each carrier will determine its own rollout dates for the Galaxy devices they support. Days prior to the rollout, Samsung updated its website to include Android 4.4 support for the U.S. Cellular Galaxy S3, so the rollout was anticipated.

Users have long awaited the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S3. So far only the Sprint, Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile models of the Galaxy S3 have updated to Android 4.4. Sprint is the first U.S. carrier to receive an Android 4.4 update for the Galaxy Note 2. Both devices updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in late 2013.

Samsung confirmed in early May that the International Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 model would not receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update due to incompatibility with RAM capacities. According to Samsung, the 1GB of RAM in the International Galaxy S3 model is not enough to support the Android 4.4 operating system effectively. Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE models like the U.S. Cellular Galaxy S3 are still eligible for updates because they contain 2GB of RAM.

There are currently no indications when other carriers will begin updating their Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 models to Android 4.4 KitKat.

Android 4.4 KitKat rolling out to Sprint’s Galaxy Note 2 – Android Central

Sprint Galaxy Note 2

Sure, the Galaxy Note 3 has received an update to the latest version of Android in March, but what about its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 2? After outlining that the device would be receiving the KitKat update later this month, Samsung is making good on its promise by rolling out the update to Sprint’s Galaxy Note 2.

This is the first major update for Sprint’s Galaxy Note 2 this year, and brings all of KitKat’s goodies to the last-gen phablet, like improved battery life, white status bar icons, full-screen album art, wireless printing support and more.

Samsung is on a roll as far as Android updates are concerned, and has rolled out KitKat to the international version of the Galaxy S4 Active earlier this week, and to the Galaxy Mega 6.3 today.

As is usually the case with these updates, it might be a while before all users receive it. If you don’t see the OTA update, head over to the device’s settings to manually check if there is one available, or connect your device to Samsung Kies to check for an update.

Now that Sprint has rolled out the KitKat update, other carriers should follow suit shortly.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat Release Imminent in US – Gotta Be Mobile

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update is poised to land in the United States. And while nothing is confirmed, there is a very good chance that the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat release will arrive this week, at least for some users.

Several weeks ago, Samsung USA announced that it would be delivering two highly anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat updates. The first, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 update. The second, the Galaxy Note 2 KitKat update. The company did not say when it would deploy the updates, only that the updates would arrive at some point down the road.

Earlier this month, Sprint became the first carrier in the world to push out the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update. And yesterday, we learned that Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile, both operated by Sprint, also rolled out their Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat updates. These are still the only three Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 updates that have rolled out.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update has made similar progress. While it hasn't spread to the U.S., it is available in several other regions around the world including France and India. The update is bound to hit the United States at some point and from the look of things, it may hit the United States this week.

We have spotted the Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update lurking on Samsung's Open Source website for developers. Typically, after an update is spotted here, its roll out is imminent. We've seen updates push within 48 hours of appearing on Samsung's site so there is a very good chance that Sprint will roll the update out this week.

Advertisement:

This kernel source file that Samsung posted isn't going to be useful for the general public and we suggest avoiding it given that the official release is probably close. Developers that have an interest in the software, whether it's for ROM development or otherwise, can download the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat software right now.

Sprint will likely wait until the update's release date to confirm all of the details. U.S. carriers almost never confirm release dates and change logs ahead of time.

The carrier's Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update will likely become the first update to arrive inside the United States though there's a very good chance that it will not be the only Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 update to emerge in the United States.

Samsung USA's broad confirmation likely means that other Galaxy Note 2 models, including those on AT&T, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon will get Android 4.4 KitKat down the road. U.S. Cellular is usually on the heels of Sprint while AT&T and Verizon typically lag behind the initial wave of updates.

The Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update is poised to land for several other carriers in the next few weeks with carriers in France, Australia and Canada all targeting releases in the near future. Specific release dates are still not known and carriers likely won't offer a specific release ahead of time given that release dates depend on the unpredictable testing process.

Sprint's Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update is expected to mirror the other Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates that have pushed out over the past few weeks. Instead of major upgrades to TouchWiz, Samsung's Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates are dominated by Google's changes to the Android operating system.

It's not clear yet where the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 goes from here. Later this year, the device turns two and Google recommends only 18 months of Android software support. And while Samsung typically delivers 24 months of support, it's no guarantee that the Galaxy Note 2 will move past the Android 4.4 KitKat update in the future.

Thanks, G!

Galaxy Note 2 in Apple’s Lawsuit List of Sales Ban of 9 Samsung Smartphones – The Utah People’s Post

Apple is looking to force a jury's recent decision to sales ban on some older models of the South Korean company's smartphones found in breach of three patents. The request for a retrial include the '647 data detectors, the '721 patent for "slide-to-unlock" functionality and the '172 patent for text prediction.

Apple lodged the motion in two separate court filings on Friday.

Apple seeks order blocking Samsung smartphone sales in second California lawsuit

Apple identified nine devices it wants barred in a filing on Friday with US District Judge Lucy Koh in San Jose, California. The devices include the Admire, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S II, Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch, Galaxy S II Skyrocket, Galaxy S III, and Stratosphere, according to the court filing.

Samsung's latest smartphones, the Galaxy S4 and S5 were not involved.

The Cupertino-based company is planning to get that final number modified to a value closer to the $ 2.191 billion it originally requested.

The 54 page filing states that, "Samsung's improper and prejudicial statements to the jury warrant a new trial on infringement for the '414 and '959 patents (in the event that the Court does not grant JMOL of infringement), a new trial on willfulness for all patents other than the '721 patent (and also other than the '647 patent if the Court grants JMOL of willfulness for that patent), and a new trial on damages for all five of Apple's asserted patents."

Samsung's share of global smartphone shipments in the first quarter of this year fell to about 31 percent from 32 percent a year earlier, according to Strategy Analytics wherein Apple's share fell to about 15 percent from almost 18 percent.

Samsung also filed its own JMOL on Friday and, while the documents are sealed, which according to FOSS Patents' Florian Mueller is the company's move to reverse some or all of the jury's findings.

In late April, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update started rolling out. Over the past three weeks, we haven't seen the massive roll out that many were expecting leaving many Galaxy Note 2 owners wondering about the Android 4.4 KitKat update and the future after it.

Back in 2012, Samsung took the curtain down from around the Galaxy Note 2, its highly anticipated Galaxy Note successor and a device that arrived with a ton of high-end features including Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. At the time, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update wasn't widely available so the fact that it was on board the Galaxy Note 2 was seen as a big deal.

Several months after the arrival of the Galaxy Note 2, Google announced Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Many believed that the Galaxy Note 2 would be among the first to get Android 4.2 but, as we learned, that wasn't mean to be.

Samsung ran into issues with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and it was forced to skip ahead to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, a massive update that delivered Galaxy Gear Support, Knox, and Galaxy S4 camera features in addition to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean features. The update represented the first major Android update for the Galaxy Note 2.

In November, Google released Android 4.4 KitKat, a brand new Android update and an update that many expected to come to the Galaxy Note 2. And while users had to wait close to six months, the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update finally arrived at the tail end of April.

Since then, we've seen a number of Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat details emerge. We took a look at many of them in our recent Galaxy Android 4.4 KtiKat breakdown but we want to take it a step further here. Here, we take a look at the five most important Android 4.4 KitKat details Galaxy Note 2 owners need to know, right now, about their latest update to their Android operating system.

Advertisement:

Yes, It's Rolling Out

We've received a lot of questions about the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update and its roll out and we don't blame you. The roll out, which started in late April, has been extremely slow. Typically, it's only a couple of weeks before we see a massive push but we simply haven't seen that with this roll out.

It's clear that the update is pushing out though. According to SamFirmware, 11 Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates have pushed out for the GT-N7100 model of the Galaxy Note 2 in May. On the other side, only one Galaxy Note 2 KitKat update for the GT-N7105 model has pushed out. The latter is only available in Nordic countries.

While it may not be Samsung's healthiest roll out, it's still showing signs of life and we expect the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 update to push out to every single Galaxy Note 2 model in every single region of the world including here in the United States. We'd bet the house on that.

This Is Normal

If you just picked up the Galaxy Note 2 or simply haven't been paying attention, this situation is par for the course. Samsung typically doesn't talk about Android updates and their release dates, save for the occasional confirmation, and usually we see the international model (in this case the GT-N7100) get the update before carrier branded versions (in this case the GT-N7105 and others).

We also tend to only get sporadic confirmations from individual carriers. Carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon usually don't talk about upcoming updates so that they keep consumer expectations to a minimum. Remember, these updates need to be poked and prodded before they are released to the public and because of that, their release dates often shift.

Thus far, we haven't seen anything out of the ordinary. It might be moving slower than some might like but this is how Samsung operates. So the important thing is to remain patient. This is a roll out that could take several months, at least, to deploy and we wouldn't be surprised if we were still talking about it this fall, right around the time Galaxy Note 4 details start heating up.

Release Dates

We have seen some Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat release timing emerge in recent weeks. French carrier SFR says June, so do Optus and Vodafone Australia, and Rogers in Canada says that it plans to roll out the update soon. Sprint, in the United States, confirmed the update many weeks ago but the update still hasn't shown up in the places that it will show up before its arrival.

At this point, all signs point to a major push next month though we want to caution Galaxy Note 2 users. Optus and Vodafone have held firm to these June release dates but keep in mind, they both originally thought that they'd have the update out in April or May. These are, after all, ETAs and not firm release dates.

In fact, we wouldn't be surprised if we saw another shift. Neither carrier has received the update from Samsung and that means that there is at least several weeks of testing that needs to get done before the update is deemed suitable for public consumption.

The important takeaway for all Galaxy Note 2 owners is this. It appears that we could see a massive push start in June but don't pull all your eggs in one basket.

Android 4.4.3 Rumors

Earlier this week, the rumored Android 4.4.3 KitKat update appeared on Samsung's developer site. On Friday we heard, once again, that the Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update was in testing. We've heard rumors that point to an arrival for the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, and Galaxy Note 2 and the fact that Samsung is working on the update is a great sign for all Galaxy users.

Rumors have also suggested that Samsung could deploy in place of Android 4.4.2 KitKat for select devices. Devices were not mentioned by name though the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 are certainly candidates, considering that their Android 4.4 KitKat roll outs have slowed down considerably in the past two weeks.

That of course is merely speculation and the fact that we've seen the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat push several times this month is a sign that we could see Android 4.4.2 KitKat now and Android 4.4.3 KitKat down the road at some point. Still, it's important for Galaxy Note 2 owners to keep their eyes on Android 4.4.3 because it's an update that very well could emerge for the device this year.

Future Isn't Clear

The Galaxy Note 2?s future still isn't clear. While we saw Samsung kill off an Android 4.4 KitKat update for some Galaxy S3 users, the Galaxy Note 2 is a much younger device. It also comes with powerful hardware specifications including 2GB of RAM and a quad-core processor. Samsung killed the GT-i9300 Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 update due to performance issues. It singled out the 1GB of RAM as one the reasons.

Google recommends 18 months of software support for Android devices though Samsung typically offers two years. What this means is that there is still a chance, given that every Galaxy Note 2 should be getting Android 4.4, that we'll see whatever is next land for the Galaxy Note 2 somewhere down the line.

It's important to note that we're saying there is a chance. There is also a good chance that Samsung will keep the Galaxy Note 2 here to encourage upgrades to newer devices. The Galaxy Note 2 turns two later this year and many users will be coming off contract.

#1. Phone shows 1 message unread

Problem: Hi, I am running this phone for almost 2 years and I was happy using it. There was some system update (almost 5 months back) after which, all my internal phone storage was wiped out. Till then again things went smooth until recently, I am seeing a bug probably. The messaging app is showing 1 message unread notification on the app icon. Even though no messages are unread. Not sure how to resolve this bug. Tried to download few apps from Google Play Store but are not able to over come this issue. If you can help regarding the same, it would be useful. Thanks. Regards, Sunny.

Solution: It's probably just a glitch in the service called BadgeProvider. This problem was common in 2013 before and after the roll out of the Jelly Bean but could easily be fixed by clearing both cache and data of the service mentioned. Go to Settings > More tab > Application manager > All tab > BadgeProvider > Clear cache > Clear data > OK.

#2. Note 2 keeps hanging after 4.4.2 update

Problem: Hi Droid Guy, I own a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (India). Recently, I updated it to android 4.4.2 and shortly after that I started encountering few problems with it. The phone keeps on hanging in the lock screen alot with the power button not working to unlock the device. Sometimes leaving it for 5-10 minutes works and other times I had to restart the device. One other problem which I m facing is that the Samsung keyboard keeps on crashing. I have a lot of apps but they were even there before I updated and the device worked fine.

Hoping for some quick remedy. Thank you, Sawan.

Solution: If this issue is firmware-related, then I am sure there are other problems you may have not discovered yet. But the most common root cause is corrupt data. All you need to do is clear all those corrupt data that are still saved in the phone to force it to cache fresher and newer ones. First thing to do is wipe cache partition via the recovery mode, if that doesn't fix the problem then perform master reset.

#3. Note 2 punches numbers during call

Problem: Hello, sorry to bother you, I'm having issues with my Galaxy Note 2 that has recently cropped up. It deals with an issue that happens while making a phone call. What has been happening is during a call, the screen is off but for some reason random numbers are getting punched in. My face won't be near it and it'll continue to happen. I've tried a headset to combat the issue but even with that, the dialer will sometimes put in numbers but nothing is touching the screen. I've cleaned the screen off, I've taken the otter box I had on it off and tried looking where I could for solutions. I've even done factory resets with no luck. Is my phone pretty much on the verge of having a melt down or is there a work around for this? If it matters, the phone is rooted. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give, C. Clifford.

Solution: Ma'am, I am almost certain this is a hardware issue. The worst thing that could happen is that you may be asked to purchase a new digitizer, it's the glass on top of the screen that is responsible for making touch screen possible. However, it is possible that some components inside were damaged as well, so you really need to have the phone checked by an authorized technician.

#4. Bluetooth sync problem

Problem: Hi, Android guy, love your tips on Note 2 problems! I have a 2012 BMW 535 XI and I can't get the Note 2 to Bluetooth sync with the car. My wife Galaxy S4 syncs beautifully, my Note 2…NOT SO MUCH! Help, wanting to be handsfree. — Mike

Solution: While many have been complaining not being able to stream on their cars via Bluetooth, Samsung didn't issue a statement to acknowledge the problem, so it remains an issue. But based on testimonies of users who also encountered the problem when syncing their phones with their cars, using A2DP Connect 2 could solve the problem. As of now, there are solutions that exist to solve this problem, so try downloading that app from the Play Store and see if that fixes the problem.

#5. Note 2 screen freezes

Problem: Hi there, I love how you help us 'androidies'. Well my wife's Note 2 phone just started freezing the screen after booting up. It is the MEA version running on Android 4.3 . What do you think could be the problem and how do I fix it? Thanks in advance. — Robert

Solution: Well, I think one of the apps or services causes this problem. But seriously, I cannot provide more information because basically you told me nothing about the problem; you simply said the phone started 'freezing.' If the phone has liquid damage, then have it cleaned and dried immediate. If it was dropped, then have it checked by an authorized technician as components inside are vulnerable. However, if none of those happened, then try booting the phone to safe mode just to check if the it would still freeze while in that state. If so, then factory reset may be necessary. But if the phone works well in safe mode, then a third-party app is causing the problem, so find it and disable or uninstall it.

#6. Caller cannot hear

Problem: So I have been searching the feeds and haven't found this problem. When I receive phone calls from other cell phones the caller can't hear me and I have to call them back and everything is fine. I noticed it never happens when someone is calling from a landline phone. I have tried a lot of tips but none seems to work. When the caller calls I can hear them just fine but they cant hear me at all. I'm not sure if its just my phone or if its a lot of people having this issue.

Solution: There were considerably a lot of people having this problem and majority of them were caused by a defective microphone. There were, however, cases that the problem was with the firmware. So, if I asked you if this problem started to manifest recently, then it is more likely a software issue. You can try doing factory reset to see if it fixes the problem, if not, then bring the phone in for a checkup.

#7. Can't use mobile data after the update

Problem: My Note 2 had updated to 4.4.2 jelly bean but after the update my mobile data can't be used anymore. It can connect to WiFi only. Even though I restart my phone, it's the same. Please help me.

Solution: Well, if this happened after the update then it could be just some corrupt data. You need to clear them by booting the Note 2 to recovery mode and wipe cache partition, and then reboot the phone normally. If that doesn't help, then backup all your data and perform factory reset.

#8. Overlapping, doubled icons

Problem: Hello I am having an issue with my phone and I don't know how to fix it. On the home screen the icons on the right top are doubled and overlapped. I've searched online and can't find anything specific. This phone was a gift and I haven't hooked it up to service yet. Please help. Thank you, Jeff.

Solution: Is it brand new? If so, there's no point in troubleshooting it when you can have it replaced. If it's not a brand new phone, I'm sure you haven't saved data in it yet, so try doing factory reset to see if that helps. If not, then it's a hardware problem.

#9. Google+ crashes

Problem: Hi, I have a problem with my Google+ keeps crashing. Can you help me with this? Thank you.

Solution: Well, the first thing to do is to clear cache and data of the Google+ app. If that doesn't help, launch the Play Store and try to see if there are available updates for any Google service. If there is, install the update and reboot the phone to know if the problem would fixed. If it continues, however, try doing factory reset. Make sure you backup all your data first.

#10. Note 2 wouldn't turn on

Problem: Hi, maybe you can help me. Last night I noticed my Note 2 screen wouldn't come on. I charged it up overnight and still the same. Is there a particular boot mode I can use or something? Cheers, Michael.

Solution: Did you see the usual charging icon? If not, then try to use a different charger or plug the phone to a computer or laptop just to make sure it charges. However, if the phone shows a different icon, try to use a different battery. If the problem is neither caused by the charger nor the battery, then there is a possibility that the USB port has issues. But try booting the phone to recovery mode or safe mode if it can. If not, then bring the phone to a technician and have it checked.

#11. Camera icon from lock screen

Problem: I upgraded to 4.4.2 just 4 days ago on my Galaxy Note GT-N7100. One feature I looked forward to is the camera access from the lock screen. Sadly there is none. I went through all the configuration settings and cannot find any options to enable it. Is the upgrade faulty?

Solution: You can add just about anything on the lock screen of your Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Just go to Settings > My device > Lock screen. There must be an option there that allows you to add the camera on the lock screen, if not then add a shortcut and point it to the camera app.

#12. Refusing software upgrade

Problem: On my Galaxy Note 2 I am constantly getting a request to install a software update. It only gives me two choices install now or install later. I simply do not want this particular upgrade. Is there any way that I can get rid of the notification… Just refuse this particular upgrade? Thanks so much, Susan.

Solution: You will need to root your device so you would have full administrator permission. Once it has already been rooted, a friend of mine said renaming two files would eventually stop or kill OTA updates. Using a file manager app, rename files FWupgrade.apk to FWupdate.bak and SDM.apk to SDM.bak.

#13. Unable to move apps

Problem: Hi, my name is Will. I have the Galaxy Note 2. My problem is with storage. When I try to move an app(one I downloaded), to the sd card, I get the message "unable to move app". Any suggestions?

Solution: I don't know what the real problem here is since there isn't much information but I assume you have sufficient space left and that the SD card is functioning well. I also don't know how and when the problem started or if there are some significant activities that happened on the phone prior to this problem. But I would suggest you use moborobo application, which can be downloaded to your computer. It would help you move apps successfully via your computer. Here is the link to that tutorial.

#14. Proximity sensors not working

Problem: Hi, I purchased note 2 model N7100 some six months ago and now from few days the proximity sensors and palm wave sensors are not working. Please help.

Solution: By 'not working' I assume you already tried calibrating the sensor. If not yet, then try dialing *#0*# to launch the diagnostic tool. If the phone says something is 'close' to the sensor during the test, then that something could be just dust. Compressed air blown into the sensor's hole in the front of the device would often solve the issue. There is no reason for the sensor to malfunction unless the phone was dropped, damaged by water, or settings were messed up. If compressed air couldn't solve the problem, try backing up your data and performing factory reset. If all else fails, it's time you brought the phone in for check up by a technician.

#15. Phone turns off randomly

Problems: Dear droid guy, I am having problems in my Note 2 after updating 4.4.2 kit kat:

  1. Images not saving in vaulty app.
  2. Mobile switches off suddenly.
  3. Videos also not saving in vaulty app.

Please fix these problem as soon as possible. Thanking you!

Solution: As early as now I want you to backup all your important data or those you don't want to lose especially those that are saved in that Vaulty app of yours. Of course, it would appear that the 4.4.2 update is at fault here considering these problems started after your downloaded and installed the new firmware version. But I think the problem is more of a compatibility issue than anything else. But after backing up your data, try clearing the cache and data of the vaulty app. See if that solves the problem. If that fails, perform factory reset.

#16. Call waiting option

Problem: I need your help. When I m on a call & receive another call I can not put the current call on hold & answer the incoming call. Is it a certain setting that my phone has to be on. Hope you can solve this problem. Thanks!

Solution: Yes, there is a setting for that. Try this: touch Apps > Phone > Menu key > Call settings > Additional settings > Call waiting. And then make sure the checkbox next to call waiting option is ticked. Once you did this, you would be able to hear and answer new incoming calls even if you're in a call.

#17. Widgets not refreshing

Problem: Hi, I'm using Galaxy note 2 N7100 I have a problem that sometimes all the widgets do not refresh, I tried to delete it and put it again but that didn't work until I reboot the device. P.S: my device is rooted.

Solution: You know what, it could have been more helpful if you included the name of the widget that has problems. But I have reason to believe it's just a matter of turning on background data of your phone. Try that first and if that doesn't solve it, contact us again and make this post a reference so you don't have to explain yourself again. This time, please, include the name of the widget you're having problems with. Thanks.

#18. Update ATT Note 2

Question: I have AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 2 SGH-1317 would like to know how to update it to Kit Kat 4.4?

Answer: While I know Android 4.4 KK would soon be rolled out for the Note 2 devices across the globe, AT&T still hasn't made it available for its customers. So, for now, try to wait for the roll out. But if you want, you can root your phone and flash custom KK ROMs available for free online. However, if you want to wait for the stock firmware, make sure your phone currently has these information as they are pre-requisites to the KK update:

  • Software (Android) version: 4.3
  • Baseband version: I317UCUBMK6
  • Kernel version: 3.0.31-2048209
  • Build number: JSS15J.I317UCUBMK6

#19. Note 2 stuck in sleep mode

Problem: Hi, I have a Note 2 , I turned my phone off or put it in "sleep mode" then I tried to turned on but it just stuck on the sleep mode, what should I do?

Solution: Reboot your phone. If it doesn't respond to the power key press, remove the battery for a minute then attempt to turn it on. Also, you may want to turn off the power saving mode if it's enabled.

#20. Can't update Note 2

Problem: I'm having problems downloading and installing updates from Verizon. I'm using 4.1, I'm sure the update is 4.3. When the pop up comes, I try to use the update, it seems me to recovery mode, the tells me I'm unable to download (update failed). When I check my phone for updates it says it's up to date. Any help would be great. Thank you.

Solution: Your email subject says your Note 2 is rooted. So, the first thing I would want you to do is to un-root your phone just to rule out the possibility that rooting caused this problem. Once you did that try downloading the update again and if it still fails, try using KIES to do so.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 vs Samsung Galaxy S3 – Price and Specs Comparison – The Fuse Joplin

The advantages of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 are: a huge screen, a long lasting battery and a rounded rectangular aspect, although it looks a lot like its predecessor, the Galaxy Note. The Galaxy S3 has a decent price and lots of cool applications that you'll find very useful. But we'll compare both devices to see which one is better for you.

Displays and designs

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has an extremely large display, which is a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen that renders a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. Samsung decided to equip the Galaxy S3 with a smaller display, a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen that renders the same resolution as the Galaxy Note 2.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 comes with 151.1 x 80.5 x 9.4 mm dimensions and weighs 183 grams. The Galaxy S3 comes with 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm dimensions and is comparatively lighter, weighing 133 grams.

Hardware and operating systems

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has 1.6 GHz quad core cortex A9 processor + Exynos 4412 Quad chipset, and three variants of internal memories: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, the first two ones being expandable by up to 64GB.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S3 has a less powerful processor, which is a 1.4 GHz quad core cortex A9 processor, but the device comes also with the Exynos 4412 Quad chipset. Like the Galaxy Note 2, the Galaxy 3 has three variants of internal memories, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, the first three ones being also expandable by up to 64 GB.

These are both Android phones; only that the Galaxy Note 2 is running on the Jelly Bean o.s. with 2GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S3 is running on the Ice Cream Sandwich o.s. (upgradeable to the Jelly Bean version) with only 1 GB of RAM.

Cameras

Both phones have an 8 MP primary camera (autofocus + LED flash) and a 1.9 MP secondary camera.

Batteries

You can talk 16 hours on 3G on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which is equipped with a Li-Ion 3100 mAh battery. The Galaxy S3's battery (a Li-Ion 2100 mAh battery) allows you to talk 11 hours and a half on 3G on the phone.

Prices

On amazon.com, you can find the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 16GB variant at the price of 460 dollars, while the Galaxy S3 16GB variant costs 312 dollars.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs Galaxy Note 2: Is it worth upgrading? – Examiner.com

New smartphones are landing in retail stores this Spring and that means it's cell phone upgrade season for some of us. If you're a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owner looking to jump to the Galaxy Note 3, now is a great time to save money while you make the change.

Verizon is currently selling the 32GB Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for $ 199 with a 2-year contract.. According to a Verizon rep Wednesday (May 15) the promotional sale ends on May 19. The Galaxy Note 3 price-drop is significant at $ 100 off the regular $ 299 contract price.

Having hands-on experience with both devices, I can say that upgrading from the Galaxy Note 2 to the Galaxy Note 3 is well worth it. During everyday use, noticeable enhancements include the phone's form factor, display, camera and convenient features.

Aside from feeling lighter and more svelte than the Note 2, the Note 3's screen is sharper and more vibrant than its predecessor. While both devices feature a Super AMOLED display, the 5.7-inch display of the Note 3 has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a pixel density of 386 ppi.

Looking at the Note 3, you'll immediately notice that the screen is more mesmerizing than that of the 5.5-inch 720p, 226 ppi display of the Note 2. It's worth mentioning that the user interface (UI) of the Note 3 feels more fluid and snappier than its sibling, thanks to the 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor and 3GB of RAM on board.

Not a discredit to the Note 2, which also offers seamless UI navigation with its 1.6 GHz quad-core Exynos 4 SoC internal hardware alongside 2GB of RAM. The bumped up hardware specs on the Galaxy Note 3 makes it an ideal, powerful device to handle multitasking with the Multi Window feature and heavy gaming.

From the moment you take your first photo with the Galaxy Note 3, you'll notice improvements in the camera's focus speed and image quality. Whether you're a photo enthusiast, selfie addict, Instagramer or casual image taker, you'll see a huge difference in the camera.

The Galaxy Note 2 camera specs include an 8MP autofocus shooter with an aperture of F2.6 and sensor size of 1/3.2". In comparison, the Galaxy Note 3 has a 13MP autofocus camera on board, with an aperture of F2.2 and a larger sensor size of 1/3.06″. The sensor upgrade makes all the difference, allowing more light into the Note 3's camera lens for clearer, sharper pictures, even in low-light settings.

Samsung made a slight change to the design of the S Pen on the Galaxy Note 3 and if you're a heavy S Pen user on your Note 2, this small detail that will change your life. The new S Pen on the Galaxy Note 3 has a sleeker shape with flat edges that lets you slide the pen back into its holster in one of two ways. On the Note 2, the S Pen is bigger and features more of a round shape that requires the S pen to be stored in a specific way.

The Galaxy Note 3's new Air Command window makes it easier to access the device's most useful features. Air Command pops up on the screen as a pie-chart style menu when you pull out the S Pen. Menu options include apps that are familiar to Samsung's Galaxy Note series devices such as Scrapbooker, Screen Write, S Finder and Pen Window.

Another Air Command menu option is the Note 3's new Action Memo feature that lets you take a note and perform a task. For example, you can write down a phone number in Action Memo and then call, text or save the number to your contacts. You can also use action memo to send an email, find an address via Google Maps or search the Web.

Air Command and Action Memo are exclusive to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 – 2014 Edition tablet. These features are not found on the Galaxy Note 2, even after installing the latest Android 4.4 KitKat software update.

The Galaxy Note 3 runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean fresh out of the box, but is also eligible the recent Android OS update. The Android 4.4 KitKat software update brings improvements to the Galaxy Note 3's multitasking performance and screen responsiveness. It also adds built-in printing support, an updated Multi Window and Emojis to the Samsung keyboard.

From my own review comparison of both the Note 2 and Note 3, the Galaxy Note 3 is worth the money no matter what device you're upgrading from. If you happen to be a Galaxy Note 2 owner who is still on the fence about upgrading to the Note 3, what are you waiting for? Let us know in the comments.

The Android KitKat 4.4.3 is being eagerly anticipated by thousands of Samsung smartphone users, but there may be hope, as a document containing a list of cell phone models is being circulating online.

Android Authority published what seems to be a list of Samsung models that will be receiving the OS update when it rolls out next soon.

Like Us on Facebook

As well as Samsung models the KitKat 4.4.3 will also be available on other units such as the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7, if the document turns out to be correct.

In a document provided by SamMobile, the Samsung Note II (LTE), Galaxy S3 (LTE), Galaxy S4 Mini, and Galaxy Note 3 Neo are just among the first handsets that are eligible for the update available on the Sprint network.

Other Galaxy series such as the Grand 2, Mega 5.8, and Mega 6.3 can be upgraded to the newest Android version, according to the leak, and they should be available sometime in June.

On the other hand, users of GT-I9300, GT-N7105, SM-N750, and GT-I910 will have to wait for confirmation from Samsung due to unresolved problems and pending approval from the Firmware Center.

Motorola’s Moto G and Moto E, as well as Sony Xperia Z Ultra and LG G Pad 8.3 are also entitled for the OS update.

Google’s flagship brands such as the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 are expected to receive the update first hand, which is rumored to enhance the Google Experience launcher as well as provide a slight redesign of the interface.

Based on Google’s press release, the Android KitKat will fix dozens of issues from earlier OS versions including VPN connectivity, random boots, camera focus, missed calls, internet stability and a lot more.

Another promising feature of the KitKat 4.4.3 is that it consumes a lower amount of internal storage compared to its earlier versions.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update for Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Note 3 (AT&T, Sprint … – Gospel Herald

This year we have seen a massive rollout of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and Galaxy Note 3 across multiple U.S. mobile service providers. Here is an overview of what is available at three major carriers – Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon.

Sprint

Sprint was the first U.S. carrier ever to roll out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Over the years, it has developed a reputation for being the first carrier to release Android updates after the manufacturers made the upgrades available. The Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update is already available amongst international carriers only, but users in the U.S. will have to wait.

For the un-initiated user, the Android software and its updates are developed by Google. When ready, Google releases the software or updates, but it takes time for manufacturers to roll out the new software onto mobile devices. After the manufacturer starts upgrading the software for their mobile devices, it takes time for the mobile service providers to start implementing the changes.

At this moment, Sprint has yet to announce an Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. This is significant because in Sprint is usually the first amongst the pack to announce Android upgrades for the major flagship mobile devices.

AT&T

Like Us on Facebook

AT&T rolled out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update for the Galaxy Note 3 in late march. Users were quick to note an improved GPS, camera, and music access. A new user-interface (UI) was also present in the roll out. The improved UI featured a redesigned status and navigation bar, color emoji support, improved captioning support, and strong security. Power use efficiency was also noticeably improved.

The Android 4.4 KitKat is currently not available for AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy Note 2. At this time, there is no information indicating when AT&T is going to roll out the Android 4.4 KitKat for the Galaxy Note 2.

Verizon

Last Monday, Verizon began rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, albeit over-the-wire. The over-the-wire option required the user to plug their Galaxy Note 3 to a PC desktop in order to download the software. It took Verizon an additional two days, to roll out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update over-the-air.

Verizon has not rolled out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Curiously, Android Geeks reported that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update was also available for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. A quick search of the Verizon Wireless website shows no evidence that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update exists for the Galaxy Note 2.  It is more than likely that the information provided by Android Geeks was the result of a typo.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs Galaxy Note 2 – Should We Go With The Successor … – The Fuse Joplin

Many new smartphones will be released this summer, and if you have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and want to get the Galaxy Note 3, this is a great time to save some money.

Verizon is currently selling Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for only $ 199, with a 2 year contract, which is $ 100 cheaper than the usual price.

If you own a Samsung Galaxy 2 and you are in doubt in purchasing Samsung Galaxy 3, we assure you that it's worth it.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 comes with a sharper screen than its predecessor. Even if both smartphones use a Super AMOLED display, Note 3 has a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels and 386ppi. Thanks to new processor, Note 3 comes with a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon, and 3GB of RAM and the user interface feels smoother than Note 2's. That makes Note 3 ideal for multitasking with the new Multi Window feature, letting you handle easily multiple applications at once.

The Note 3 comes with a 13 MB primary camera with autofocus, which will make clearer pictures than the old 8 MB camera that Note 2 has.

Galaxy Note 3 comes with a new Air Command window, which makes you access the useful features easier. Air command has applications such as Screen Write, Pen Windows, Scrapbooker. It also contains a new application called "Action Memo", where you can write something using your pen, and after that you have the option to "call" in case you wrote a number, or "add to contact list" when you wrote a name and number, or even search for an address using Google Maps, and more.

Both of the new features are exclusive for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 – 2014 edition tablet. Even after upgrading your Galaxy Note 2 with the latest Android, you won't find these features in it.

Galaxy Note 3 comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, but it can be upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat, which will bring even more improvements in multitasking performance and screen responsiveness.

Top 5 Smartphones to Consider Before Buying the Galaxy Note 2 [May, 2014] – Gotta Be Mobile

By  |

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 might be turning two later on this year but thanks to solid hardware and updated software, the device remains a viable option for those that want the power of the Galaxy Note but don't want to shell out a ton of cash. While we won't stop consumers from looking into the Galaxy Note 2, we do want to bring up some devices that we think prospective buyers should consider before buying one.

All the way back in August of 2012, Samsung took the stage ahead of  IFA 2012 in Berlin, Germany and announced the Galaxy Note 2, the highly anticipated successor to the original Galaxy Note that helped set the stage for Samsung's two-pronged attack against Apple, HTC and others.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 arrived with a number of big time improvements. It featured a bigger and better display, a fast quad-core processor, a solid camera, brand new software for the device's bundled S Pen, and an arrival on a number of U.S. carriers. The original Galaxy Note was only available on AT&T and for a short while, on T-Mobile.

These impressive additions to the Galaxy Note series compelled many people to invest into Samsung's large screen smartphone. They, along with a cheap price tag and updated software, have helped to keep the Galaxy Note 2 relevant almost two years after its arrival on shelves.

At this point, it's a hard device to recommend with the Galaxy Note 3 out and the Galaxy Note 4 on the way but we can't fault those that are interested because of its price tag.

What we will say though is that there are a number of smartphones that we think consumers need to consider before buying the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

Keep in mind, our list may differ from yours but these are the devices that Gotta Be Mobile editors have selected for recognition this month. We feel like they deliver the best, all-around package at the moment. This list will change from month to month as rumored devices get closer to announcement and announced devices get released.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Before buying the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, prospective buyers will certainly want to check out its more powerful brother, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The Galaxy Note 3 is more expensive but for the extra money, buyers will get an assortment of powerful upgrades.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 offers an improved design, a better camera, a nicer full HD display, better S Pen functionality, and a higher quality processor which is important for a device in this class.

The Galaxy Note 3 price has dropped dramatically since its arrival back in September and Amazon is selling it for a fraction of its original $ 299.99 on-contract price tag. It’s a device that’s worthy of a look and we recommend ruling it out before buying a device that is clearly on its last legs.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 Neo Android … – International Business Times AU

Samsung has remained tight-lipped about updating its older Galaxy devices with Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Amidst the leaks and predictions, a new Samsung document spotted reveals which devices are in line for the update. The list has been making rounds about the internet suggesting that the roll out could be any time soon.

The leaked document came from a report by SamMobile. According to the website, the document came from a tipster assuring its legitimacy.  The document details seven handsets except three LTE variants.  As with the leak, the Samsung Galaxy Note II started receiving the update in April. Some users reported receiving the firmware already whereas the rest should expect it soon. The update has also started rolling out in India at the start of May.

The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update offers Galaxy Note II users several improved features. These include full screen album art, transparent status bar, lock screen camera shortcut, NFC tap-to-pay support, wireless printing functionality, launcher apps and to set default messages. The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update offers an overall improved experience for the phablet including better speed and response time. Other devices listed in the document include:

Verizon is rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 over-the-air on Tuesday, four months after Samsung released the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3.

The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update was actually available on Monday, but was only available over-the-wire. Over-the-wire downloading requires the user to connect the device to a PC computer. Prior to the upgrade, Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy Note 3 users were limited to installing the previous Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

True to reputation, Verizon is once again the last major U.S. carrier to roll out the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade. In comparison, rival-carrier Sprint was the first to release the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update, followed by other carriers that include U.S. Cellular, T-Mobile, and AT&T.

Tardiness on Verizon’s part did not stop impatient Galaxy Note 3 users from downloading the unofficial Android 4.4 KitKat update, which was available earlier this month. The hack is still available as of Tuesday, but it is best to install the Android 4.4 KitKat update through Verizon instead.

As of now, Verizon has not listed a change log for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade. When the change log will be made available is uncertain at this time, but quite possibly it will be soon.

These recent developments come none too soon, as recent rumors suggest that Google may push out the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update anytime this year. In addition, there is speculation that Google is also working on the Android 4.5 – making Android 4.4.3 KitKat the last of the Android 4.4 updates. An Android 4.4.4 update seems unlikely, unless Google fails to eliminate all major bugs from the Android 4.4 KitKat.

The list of confirmed Samsung Galaxy Note 2 models that will get the Android 4.4 KitKat are: International GT-N7100, China Unicom Gt-N7102, International GT-N7105, China Mobile GT-N7108, Verizon SCH-i605, US Cellular SCH-R950, AT&T SGH-i317, Bell, Rogers, SaskTel and Telus SGH-i317M, T-Mobile SGH-T889, Mobilicity, Videotron and WIND SGH-T889V, Sprint SPH-L900, China Telecom SCH-N719, NTT DoCoMo SGH-N025, KT SHV-E250K, LG U+ SHV-E250L, and SK Telecom SHV.

The Business Times noted that the rollout, like usual Android updates, would be gradual as Samsung will need to send the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to carriers for certification. Devices may get the upgrade as late as May or longer.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 users can check if the Android 4.4.2 update is now available for their device by going to Go to Settings then “About Phone” and see if there's a notification for an OS update.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Details Trickle Out – Gotta Be Mobile

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update details continue to trickle out as carriers start to inform their users of incoming Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates. Specific Samsung Galaxy Note 2 KitKat release dates, however, remain hard to come by.

Many weeks ago, Samsung USA and Samsung Poland confirmed plans to roll out a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update. In late April, Samsung made good on its promises when it started pushing out the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update to GT-N7100 Galaxy Note 2 users in France. Days later, the update spread to users in India and in Nordic countries.

Since then, official Galaxy Note 2 details have been few and far between thanks to silence from Samsung and silence from its carrier partners in the United States and elsewhere.

We've been trying to piece together the puzzle for Galaxy Note 2 owners all over the world in an attempt to bring clarity to the situation. We've tracked down Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat confirmations for Rogers in Canada, SFR in France, Vodafone and Optus in Australia, Sprint in the United States, and today, we've discovered some new details for users in Europe.

Vodafone Spain recently confirmed plans to roll out the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates for its GT-7100 and its GT-N7105, the latter of which is the carrier's 4G version of the smartphone. The carrier says that Samsung confirmed plans to upgrade both of its devices, something that should settle the minds of Vodafone users in Spain and settle the minds of Galaxy Note 2 owners across the world.

While Samsung USA and Samsung Poland both confirmed the update, Samsung itself has yet to offer any specific roll out plans for Android 4.4 KitKat. Instead, users have been forced to rely on carriers and leaks for information. This information from Vodafone is extremely solid and it essentially confirms what Samsung refuses to confirm. That the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update will be landing for both the 3G and 4G variants.

Vodafone Spain, like the other carriers that confirmed Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 updates, says that it doesn't have a specific release date for the updates. SFR and Vodafone Australia both say that the update could land in May. Optus says that it probably won't be rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat until June.

Rumors suggest that Samsung is planning to roll out the Galaxy Note 2 LTE (GT-N7100) Android 4.4 KitKat update starting in May though the carrier has yet to officially announce its release plans. Carriers are typically weeks behind the start of the international roll out which means that Galaxy Note 2 owners on these carriers will be lucky if they see the software emerge in May. June, at this point, seems more likely.

Vodafone Spain also says that it will be Android 4.4.2 KitKat that debuts for the Galaxy Note 2 and not something else. The carrier issued this information a few days ago, before we started hearing rumors about a possible jump to Android 4.4.3 KitKat for at least some of Samsung's Galaxy-branded smartphones.

Android 4.4.3 KitKat update rumors have been flying around for months. The Android 4.4.3 KitKat is expected to alleviate Android 4.4.2 KitKat problems and it's expected to deploy to Google's arsenal of Nexus-branded smartphones and tablets. Rumors also suggest that it will be coming to Samsung's devices in the future as well.

SamMobile recently claimed that Samsung is currently testing the Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update. It, like Android Geeks, also claims that Samsung is thinking about pushing Android 4.4.3 KitKat instead of Android 4.4.2. It's not clear which devices might be under consideration though Android Geeks suggests that both the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 could get Android 4.4.3.

While nothing is confirmed, it could explain why we haven't seen a massive Galaxy Note 2 or Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update push during the month of May. The Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 update is currently limited to three variants while the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update is only available on Sprint.

Unfortunately, information regarding these updates is slow moving and it could be that Galaxy Note 2 owners and owners of other Galaxy devices won't find out for sure until the day of the roll out. Samsung is notorious for keeping silent about its release plans, likely in an attempt to keep expectations under control. Releases depend on the success of internal testing and internal testing can often lead to delays.

It's still not clear if Android 4.4 will be the end of the road for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The device is approaching its second birthday and Google only recommends 18 months of software support.

It does appear to be the end of the road for the Samsung Galaxy S3 given that Samsung UK recently confirmed that it would not be pushing out Android 4.4 KitKat for the Samsung Galaxy S3, one of the most popular smartphones of all time.
