The Samsung Galaxy S4 Currently runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the update That it has been running ever since its debut back in April of this year. The Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 are both currently on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean And they will be skipping Android 4.2 for Android 4.3.

How to Root Galaxy Note N7100 2 on Android 4.1.2 XXDMF3 Jelly Bean Official Firmware

Step 1 – Download CWM 6 rooting tool for N7100XXDMF3 firmware to your computer and extract the zip file.

Step 2 – Download ODIN v3.07 Which is needed to root XXDMF3 official firmware on your phone.

Step 3 – Power off the phone and boot it into Download Mode . To do so, press and hold the Volume Down , Home and Power buttons together until the Samsung logo or red and yellow text Appears on screen.

Step 4 – Launch ODIN on computer and connect your phone to it, while the phone is still in Download Mode.

Step 5 – When the phone connects successfully, one of the ID: COM boxes will turn yellow with the Corresponding COM port number. This process May take sometime. So, leave it alone.

Step 6 – Choose the filethat needs to be flashed or installed on your phone. This file is obtained from the extracted file in Step 1.

Click ‘PDA’ checkbox and select the file ‘ CWM6-root note2.tar.md5 .’

Step 7 – In ODIN, ENSURE Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options are selected.

Step 8 – Click Start button in ODIN and root installation process will begin, Which would take just a few minutes to complete.

Step 9 – Once the root installation is completed, your phone will reboot into Recovery Mode Automatically and install the root package files. At this point, your device ID: COM box will turn green overpriced displaying a PASS message.

Step 10 – Finally, When The homescreen Appear, disconnect the phone from computer.

NOTE: If the device fails to boot into Recovery Mode Automatically (as given in Step 10) and root your device, then repeat the entire procedure from the start.

Step 11 – Remove the battery to Power Off the phone forcefully.

Step 12 – Boot (turn ON your phone) by pressing Volume Up, Home and Power buttons together to enter Recovery Mode manually. This will Initiate the root installation process on your phone.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 is now rooted on Android 4.1.2 XXDMF3 official firmware. Check for the SuperSU app in your apps list to verify.

Galaxy Note 2 (LTE) N7105 Gets Android 4.3 via Carbon JB Nightly ROM

The LTE version of the Galaxy Note 2 with model number N7105 can now be updated to the latest custom Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) firmware, thanks to the release of Carbon JB Nightly ROM. The ROM is based on the original Android Open Source Project (AOSP) with its key features borrowed from CyanogenMod (CM), Android Open Kang Project (AOKP) and other popular custom ROMs.

Instructions provided in this guide are Meant for reference purpose only. IBTimes UK will not be held liable for any device damage During or after the firmware installation. Users are advised to Proceed at Their Own Risk.

Pre-Requisites

The Carbon JB Nightly ROM and instructions provided in this guide are Meant for Galaxy Note LTE N7105 2 model only. Do not attempt installing the firmware on any other model as you might end up bricking the device.
Ensure the device is factory unlocked and rooted with ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery or TWRP installed on it.
Backup important data and settings on the phone with one of the custom recovery tools Such as CWM or TWRP to preventable data loss During the firmware installation.
Ensure the device has at least 80% battery charge to preventable unexpected device shutdown (due to battery drain) During the firmware installation.
Enable USB Debugging mode by navigating to Settings> Developer Options (if phone is running Android 4.0 or later) or go to Settings> Applications> Development ( if running Android 2.3 or EARLIER). If the device is running Android 4.2, then perform the Following steps:
Go to Settings> About Phone
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and select Build Number
Tap Build number seven times to unlock or reveal hidden Developer Options . Now, select the checkbox to enable USB Debugging mode under Settings> Developer Options.

How to Install Android 4.3 Carbon JB Nightly ROM on Galaxy Note LTE N7105 2

Download Android 4.3 Carbon JB Nightly ROM and Google Apps package for Galaxy Note N7105 2 on computer.
Connect the phone to computer with original USB cable and copy the downloaded Carbon JB Nightly ROM and Google Apps zip files to the root folder on the phone’s SD card.
Power off the phone and boot it into Recovery mode . To do so, press and hold Volume Up and Home buttons together and then Simultaneously tap the Power button until the Samsung logo Appears on the screen. This Confirms Entry into Recovery mode .
Before flashing the new ROM, do the Following steps into CWM recovery :
> wipe data / factory reset
> wipe cache
> go to “advanced” and perform wipe Dalvik cache
> go to “mounts and storage” and format system
In CWM recovery, click Install zip from SD card and select the ROM zip file Copied EARLIER to the phone’s SD card ( repeat this step for installing Google Apps as well ). After Selecting the ROM file, allow the ROM to be installed on the device. This process May take about five minutes to complete.
