Xiaomi Readying Android 7.0 Nougat Updates for Mi4C, Mi4S, Mi Note 2 and Mi … – Softpedia News

Xiaomi is one of the companies that managed to release the Android 7.0 Nougat update for at least one of its smartphones. However, the Chinese handset maker plans to expand the update to even more devices in the coming months.

Some of you probably know that the Mi5 is the Xiaomi’s first smartphone to have received an official Android 7.0 Nougat update. Xiaomi’s flagship is also eligible for an Android 7.1.1 Nougat update via CyanogenMod 14.1.

The good news is the Mi5 won’t remain the only Xiaomi smartphone to run Android 7.0 Nougat for too long. A Xiaomi official confirmed on Weibo, the Chinese alternative to Facebook, that his company plans to release Nougat update for a couple of other smartphones.

Among the smartphones that should be eligible for Android 7.0 Nougat, Xiaomi’s rep mentioned the Mi4C, Mi4S, Mi Note 2 and Mi Max.

Unfortunately, none of the update has received an ETA (estimate time of arrival) until now, so we believe it will take Xiaomi at least one more month to start delivering on its promise.

If our assumption proves to be accurate, then you might see some of the smartphones mentioned earlier start receiving Android Nougat updates in Q1 2017.

It’s worth noting that for the time being none of the very popular Redmi smartphones is part of Xiaomi’s Android 7.0 Nougat plans.

Even though they haven’t been mentioned by the Xiaomi’s official, it doesn’t really mean that the list can’t be expanded to include other smartphones like those in the Redmi family.

Depending on what version (Chinese or international) of software you have pre-installed on your Xiaomi smartphone, you can get the Android 7.0 Nougat update sooner or later.

In the meantime, Xiaomi continues to push Android 7.0 Nougat beta builds to those who have enrolled in the beta program. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly and the update will be released sooner rather than later.
