The Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi 4c, the Mi 4s and the Mi Note to get Android 7.0 Nougat in China – The Indian Express

Xiaomi’s smartphones will finally start getting the Android 7.0 Nougat update, but for now the beta build will be rolling out to select the Mi devices in China. According to a report on GizmoChina, Xiaomi is rolling out the Android 7.0 beta version this week for its phones. The report is based on posts from the Weibo account of Xiaomi MIUI Operators Manager with account name to the RanGer, the wind, who has posted about the update .

The Weibo account also has a diablo ii screenshot of the settings page of a Mi 5 smartphone running on the Android Nougat 7.0 build. According to the posts, the Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi 4c, the Mi 4s and the Mi Note will get the 7.0 Nougat build, and users in China can keep track of the latest features in the MIUI forum app. The account also says this is a closed beta, and there will be some stability issue so users should keep their data backed up before installing the new OS on the phone.

There’s no word on whether the Redmi phones will get the Nougat update. Xiaomi has not confirmed if the new Mi 5s, Mi Note 2 series, and Mi, the Mix will eventually get the Nougat update or not.

Google recently rolled out the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for the Pixel, the Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, Nexus, 5X, Nexus 9, Pixel tablet, Nexus player and General Mobile 4G (Android One) devices. The update brings features like the App Shortcut, Google’s "Image of the Keyboard", miscellaneous emojis and more. Players like Sony, LG, HTC have started rolling out the Nougat update for their phones.

Sony announced the Android 7.0 for Xperia XZ, which brings multi-window support and a longer battery life. HTC has started rolling out Android Nougat to unlocked versions of the HTC One M9, HTC 10 in the US, but there’s no update on an India roll out. Samsung Android 7.0 Nougat beta program for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones is currently on as well. Also the LG G5 has been updated to Android 7.0 Nougat in some regions but not yet in India.
