Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2 KitKat (Android 4.4) Release Date: Customer … – G 4 Games

It's been a while since the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy S3 have been released, and given the age of these devices, some owners had some burning questions surrounding the availability of the KitKat update (Android 4.4).

Luckily, it appears that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is indeed planned for a KitKat release, as not too long ago we've spotted the Korean variant running Android 4.4 in GFXBench, leading us to believe that Samsung is indeed testing the new OS on its second-gen phablet.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S3, the story so far is a pretty intriguing one, leaving some S3 owners hanging as their variants (packing 1 GB of RAM) might not get the Android 4.4 KitKat update at all.

Fortunately, today we have some good news for a change so check back after the break for more details.

Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2 KitKat (Android 4.4) Release Date: April-May Timeframe?

Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2 KitKat (Android 4.4) Release Date: April-May Timeframe?

Apparently, a Samsung customer from Korea got in touch with the tech giant's support line and asked about the whereabouts of KitKat for both the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2.

According to his sayings, Samsung is expecting to launch the Android 4.4 update on the Galaxy Note 2 somewhere in mid-April. As for the S3, the source suggests that, according to the Samsung representative, the handset will receive KitKat around the end of April, or in early May.

Keep in mind, however, that these time-frames (if applicable) correspond only to the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 in South Korea. However, we could assume that, if these two handsets will be getting Android 4.4 around April-May in their homeland, the rest of the world shouldn't be too far behind either.

Until we find out more, stay tuned and let us know if you happen to own either one of these smartphones. If so, are you still waiting for the official release? Or have you already opted in for a custom ROM?
