Users can update their devices over-the-air by going to the Settings icon in the apps menu > select the More tab > tap About Device > select Software Update > select Check for Updates and follow on-screen instructions to install the firmware.
However, users can also update their devices manually by downloading the firmware package and flashing it with Odin.
Here are certain aspects that users should note before installing the firmware manually:
- All data stored in the device should be backed up
- The handset must have at least 80 percent battery power
- The USB drivers for the device must be installed on the computer and USB Debugging must be enabled
- After flashing the firmware, any installed custom ROM will be lost
- Custom recovery, such as ClockworkMod Recovery or TWRP, will also be lost
Note: International Business Times cannot be held responsible for anything that goes wrong. Users should proceed at their own risk.

paragraphs if you've been here before.
Android 4.4.2 has been out for many months and certain smartphones have already received their fair share of KitKat. Sadly, the process of getting an update ready for a top-tier Android device takes a while, despite the fact that flagship phones are on each manufacturer's top priority list when it comes to new OS versions.
In Samsung's case, last year's Galaxy S4 and Note 3 have already been updated to Android 4.4.2, but only in certain regions, so far. There are still plenty of units in queue and it may take a while before we can safely say that every Note 3 and SGS4 user has taken KitKat for a spin.
As such, chances are that it will take an even longer while for the Galaxy S3 and the Note 2 to receive the update, or, they might not receive the firmware at all. The international S3 might not be able to make the jump to Android 4.4.2 due to the lower amount of RAM, but what about the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 KitKat update?

Note 2 KitKat (Android 4.4.2) Update: What We Know So Far
We start off this short history lesson with what seemed to be a bit of good news, as earlier this month a leaked document suggested that the international Note 2 will be receiving Android 4.4.2 sometime within the next couple of months. Sadly, we are somewhat skeptical towards this particular leak, specifically because the Note 2?s model number was not listed correctly.
On the bright side though, we've recently stumbled across some pretty solid hints that KitKat is indeed on its way, when the Korean Note 2 model (SHV-E250) has been spotted in a GFXBench listing, boasting Android 4.4.2 under the hood.
For those of you wondering, this means that at least one Note 2 unit in Korea actually runs on Android 4.4.2, which in turn, leads us to believe that KitKat for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is currently in the testing stages of development.
[UPDATE] The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 KitKat (Android 4.4) update has gone live in certain regions. Find out where.
Evidently, these events can't help us pinpoint the exact roll-out date for the update, as the testing phase could take anywhere between one / two weeks to a couple of months (or more). However, progress is good, even at a slower pace, and if Samsung is indeed testing KitKat for the Galaxy Note 2 in its homeland, then we can safely assume that, eventually, the same will happen for the international and US models as well.
[UPDATE] According to a Korean Galaxy Note 2 owner who has contacted Samsung's support, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 KitKat update will be released in mid to late April.
Are there any Note 2 users out there? Are you eagerly waiting for Android 4.4.2 to arrive? Don't hesitate to drop us a line below.
Later on this year, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will turn two years old. When it does, many consumers will be looking at an upgrade. While some might want to hold onto the Galaxy Note 2, others will be looking at picking up a new device and one of those options will almost certainly be the next version of the Galaxy Note, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
Back in 2012, Samsung took the stage in late August and announced the new version of its Galaxy Note, a device that was unsurprisingly dubbed Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The second-generation Galaxy Note 2 followed in the footsteps of the original Galaxy Note, a device that launched as a niche smartphone and developed into something much bigger thanks to an impressive set of features and a solid advertising campaign.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 built upon the foundation of the original and added some firepower of its own. A new design, new features for the device's unique S Pen and an assortment of carrier options were just a few of the reasons why the Galaxy Note 2 was able to successfully replace the company's first effort.
Of course, that was almost two years ago. Since then, Samsung has released a number of new Galaxy-branded devices including the current version of the Galaxy Note, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. While the Galaxy Note 3 is probably tempting to current Galaxy Note 2 owners, it may not be tempting enough to pay an ETF and get out of a contract.
Later on this year, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners who bought the device in the weeks after its release will be coming out of their contracts looking for a new smartphone. And while the Galaxy Note 3 will be one of the options, many Galaxy Note 2 owners have their eyes on its successor, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Samsung Galaxy Note 4 rumors have been rampant in recent weeks as they attempt to paint a clear picture ahead of the device's eventual launch.
While it's only April, we've started to get questions about the Galaxy Note 4 from friends, family and readers who own the Galaxy Note 2. And while Samsung's Next Big Thing is still partially in the shadows, there are enough credible pieces of information out to warrant an early look at how it currently, and might compare to the Galaxy Note 2.
This comparison aims to help set the expectations of current Galaxy Note 2 owners who might be thinking about making a change. It will also help prospective Galaxy Note 2 buyers put things into perspective as we head deeper into the year.
Design
Samsung is notorious for keeping its flagship Galaxy designs locked up tight ahead of launch. It managed to keep the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 out of view until the company announced it on stage at IFA and it was able to keep the Galaxy S5 design a secret up until its launch date at Mobile World Congress in 2014. So, it's not surprising that the Galaxy Note 4 design has not leaked out here in April. That doesn't mean that we haven't heard rumors though.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will come with a brand new design that is different from the design found on the Galaxy Note 3. We know that because Yoon Han-kil, senior vice president of Samsung's product strategy team, told Reuters that the Galaxy Note 4 will be coming with a "new form factor" later this year.
Yoon did not elaborate on what the Galaxy Note 4 will look like but it's safe to think that the device will look different than the Galaxy Note 3 and the faux plastic that makes up its form factor. It's also safe to assume that the design will be different than the Galaxy Note 2?s glossy polycarbonate plastic design.
Samsung shifted away from its cheap polycarbonate plastic designs with its past two releases. The Galaxy Note 3 utilizes a faux leather design while the Galaxy S5 shifted to a perforated plastic matte material. Both feel more premium than the company's previous designs. With this shift in place, it's hard to see Samsung going backwards. In other words, we doubt that this "new form factor" is going to borrow from the Galaxy Note 2?s design.
Instead, it's more likely to borrow from Samsung's newer designs. Rumors suggest that the Galaxy Note 4 will come with an IP67 certification, just like the Galaxy S5. What this means is that it will be dust and water resistant, something that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 can only obtain through the use of a case.
Recent patent filings could hint at Samsung's upcoming designs.
We've also heard rumors, which have been fueled by a pair of patent filings, that suggest that this new form factor could be based on a brand new three-sided display, something that the Galaxy Note 2 obviously doesn't have.
Display
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 uses technology from the year that it was released which means that it offers users a 5.5-inch 720p display. It's nice but it's doesn't offer Full HD like many of the flagships on the market in 2014.
Back in January, a Samsung executive told Bloomberg that the Galaxy Note 4 could come with a new display type that would allow for better viewing angles. Since then, a series of Galaxy Note 4 rumors have pointed to a "bent" three-sided display that Samsung hasn't denied. In fact, a recent report suggested that the three-sided display was still in play for the Galaxy Note 4.
Samsung's Youm flexible display technology still hasn't made it onto a mainstream device like the Galaxy S or Galaxy Note but it did make an appearance on last year's Samsung Galaxy Round, a device that was limited in scope and was released for consumers in Korea. Whether or not it makes it on board the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is up in the air as Samsung is likely working through a number of different Galaxy Note 4 prototypes.
While that's up for debate, it's clear that the display technology on board the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will trump the Galaxy Note 2?s. Why? Think about it. Samsung's flagship smartphones have moved beyond 720p resolution and now come with support for full HD 1080p. The Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 feature full HD resolution for movies, games and more.
Samsung's not going to backtrack which means that those who upgrade from the Galaxy Note 2 can almost certainly count on a higher-resolution display. That's big given that the Galaxy Note is built for content consumption.
It's also possible that we could see a Galaxy Note 4 display that trumps even the Galaxy S5?s. Rumors suggest that Samsung is at least considering a QHD display for the Galaxy Note 4. QHD display resolution translates to 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and it offers sharper, beautiful looking content.
Samsung hasn't made its QHD plans a secret and with rival LG expected to launch an LG G3 with a QHD display in the second quarter, it wouldn't be surprising to see Samsung make a move of its own. Whatever the case may be, Galaxy Note 2 owners should expect to encounter some sort of an upgrade.
Specs
Galaxy Note 2 owners can expect the rest of the Galaxy Note 4?s hardware to outpace their hardware. Every year, Samsung tweaks its flagship hardware to deliver a more powerful experience than the year before.
Galaxy Note 4 specs are said to possibly include a faster processor and LTE-Advanced for faster data speeds. LTE-A offers faster data speeds for compatible devices but it also requires networks to offer the capability. U.S. carriers have been slow to adopt the new technology though Verizon plans to deploy LTE-A by the middle of 2014.
Rumors suggest that the Galaxy Note 4 could come with a 64-bit processor though that isn't set in stone. The Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung's latest Galaxy S smartphone, shunned a 64-bit processor in favor of the Snapdragon 801 32-bit processor from Qualcomm.
Processing power has come a long way since the Exynos 4 quad-core processor arrived on board the Galaxy Note 2 so we expect there to be a significant difference between the two. This is crucial given that the Galaxy Note series is built for tasks like multitasking and gaming.
Software
We haven't heard anything specific about the Samsung Galaxy Note 4?s software but we have heard rumors about Google's next big Android update. Android 4.5 is rumored to be arriving in July alongside a new Nexus 8 tablet and if rumors pan out, it has a very good chance of being the software that arrives stock on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Samsung seems intent on moving to Tizen at some point but for the moment, the Galaxy Note 4 is expected to be an Android smartphone.
Google may change the look of the stock Android icons for Android 4.5.
When and if Android 4.5 arrives, the Galaxy Note 2 will be closing in on its second birthday. Google recommends 18 months of software support while Samsung and other manufacturers tend to offer 24 months. What this means is that an Android 4.5 upgrade is possible but it's certainly not guaranteed.
The Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update just started rolling out and either it, or this next Android update will probably be the Galaxy Note 2?s last. That's something that Galaxy Note 2 owners need to consider. While the Galaxy Note 4 should come with the latest software and two years of software support, the Galaxy Note 2 is on its last legs.
Release Date
That's as good of a comparison as Galaxy Note 2 owners are going to get at this point. Those looking to physically compare the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 probably won't be able to do so for several months.
Samsung confirmed, multiple times, that it plans to launch the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in the second half of the year. More specifically, executives have pointed to the usual fall slot for its release. One executive noted that the company is once again looking at IFA, the Berlin-based trade show that Samsung has used as the launch pad for all three Galaxy Note models.
IFA 2014 is scheduled to kick off on September 5th which means that the Galaxy Note 4 could arrive anywhere between September 1st and September 5th. Samsung is known to host its Unpacked events either a day before or on the day of a major event like IFA. The Galaxy S5 launch, for instance, kicked off on the first day of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
So while Galaxy Note 2 users would probably love to get hands-on with the Galaxy Note 4 in the near future, that probably won't happen. Instead, the Galaxy Note 4 appears to be on a collision course with the iPhone 6, another rumored smartphone that is expected to debut in the fall with a much larger display than the iPhone 5s.
For the moment, this is all we know about the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Galaxy Note 2 owners who are interesting in the next version of the Galaxy Note would be wise to keep an eye on the Galaxy Note 4 rumor mill but keep expectations reasonable.
Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Galaxy Note 2, but it hasn't reached all users yet, unfortunately.
It seems like it will take a few more weeks until everyone can enjoy the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on their Galaxy Note 2, but nothing is very clear yet, as Samsung failed to mention when will everyone receive it.
We've been researching this issue and we discovered that there are a lot of users who are still waiting for the update. Until now it rolled out mostly in Europe for the Galaxy Note 2 N7100 model. If you haven't received yours yet, you can follow our guide to perform a manual update.
We don't have any precise
date, but we expect everyone to receive the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update by the end of May. Hopefully Samsung will manage to deliver it to all users by the end of May, but this also depends on carriers, which are usually the ones that delay updates.
Unfortunately for users, this might be the latest major update for the Galaxy Note 2, so you won't get the Android 4.5 or 5.0 most likely.
For those who aren't patient enough to get their update, you can always flash a custom ROM on your Galaxy Note 2. Some are really fast and stable and can make your device much better. Head over to our update page and find a good Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM for your Galaxy Note 2.
We are curious if you've received the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA update on your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 yet. Please let us know in the comments. We know that most European countries received it, but we don't have many information about the rest of the world yet.
Once we find out more information about this, we will let you know.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 started receiving the Android 4.4 Kitkat OS update while the Galaxy S3 users were still waiting in vain.
The South Korean tech company started rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat update for its second generation Galaxy Note smartphone. Users in Europe will be the first to get the taste of the chocolatey mobile software, most specifically in France. The update will then roll out to different parts of Europe.
According to SamMobile, the new firmware brings a number of enhancements included in the latest version of Google’s platform, as well as many Samsung-made improvements and tweaks. Some of the noticeable changes in the smartphone-tablet hybrid are full-screen album art, camera shortcut on the lock screen, wireless printing support, NFC tap-to-pay, options to set default messaging and launcher apps and better stability. There’s also Samsung KNOX support to enable more secure communication and Samsung Wallet.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update release has begun though it looks like the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update is limited to one Galaxy Note 2 variant in one specific region, at least for the moment.
Earlier this year, Samsung confirmed that it would be rolling out the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update in the United States and Poland. Soon after, several carriers including Sprint announced that they would also be rolling out the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update. Carriers put their roll outs inside of late April or May and we now know why.
Today, after a bit of a wait, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update has begun rolling out. In true Samsung fashion, the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update is, for the moment, limited to a single variant in France. Owners of the GT-N7100, the international variant, now have access to the update through Samsung Kies according to SamMobile, a site that tracks Samsung's servers.
The specific build for the update is N7100XXUFND3 and the update will deliver a number of familiar features to owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. As expected, the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update follows in the footsteps of the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat updates that pushed out earlier this year.
Instead of a huge update to Samsung's TouchWiz software, the update delivers Android 4.4 KitKat features in addition to Samsung Knox, a new status bar and a new way to easily switch between the default messaging application and Hangouts. It does not appear to bring any Samsung Galaxy S5 software features to Galaxy Note 2 owners.
Of course, Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates will be different thanks to unique enhancements and fixes that carriers put on board their software. Sprint's Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update, for instance, will likely enhancements and fixes that are different than the ones found on the Verizon version of the update.
This is the start of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat release. Samsung Android updates almost always take several months to roll out. The roll outs are typically very unpredictable except for those who are on a carrier that provides timely updates about its Android software update plans.
Weeks ago, Sprint confirmed the Galaxy Note 2 update for arrival and over the past few weeks, we've seen Australian carriers Optus and Vodafone confirm Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 updates as well. While Sprint neglected to offer any kind of a time line for Galaxy Note 2 users, Optus and Vodafone both say that they should deliver the update in late April or early May. Neither carrier offered specific dates because the release depends on the testing process.
The Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update is expected to touch down for all versions of the Galaxy Note 2, including the variants on AT&T, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon. The United States has been at the front of the line for a few Samsung's recent Android updates so we could certainly see American carriers get their Android 4.4 KitKat updates sometime in the near future.
Samsung's Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade joins the company's Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat roll outs and beats the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat roll out to the punch.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update remains in limbo thanks to conflicting information. While one side suggests that the Galaxy S3 may not see Android 4.4 KitKat in the future, there are some that believe that the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update will roll out to a number of devices starting in May.
Unlike the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update, we haven't seen any carriers, besides Sprint, confirm the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade. Carriers like Optus and Vodafone remain silent about potential Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat upgrades and French carrier SFR's recent Android schedule does not list a Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update.
Also unclear are the futures for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Samsung Galaxy S3. The Galaxy S3 turns two years old next month and Samsung typically kills software support in and around 24 months. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 doesn't turn two until later on this year, September to be exact, so it currently sits in a gray area.
Google recommends 18 months of software support for Android devices so it's possible that the company will heed that advice and pull the plug on both of these devices after Android 4.4 KitKat.
Rumors suggest that Google will be announcing a brand new Android update this summer alongside a brand new Nexus tablet called the Nexus 8. The Nexus 8 is expected to be a high-end replacement for the Nexus 7 and deliver an impressive feature set in an effort to challenge Apple's iPad mini with Retina Display.
The device is rumored to have a brand new Android 4.5 update on board though Android 4.5, for the moment remains firmly in the shadows.

Good news, folks. Samsung has begun pushing out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100).
For now, the update is only available in France (XEF) through the Kies PC companion software. No information on an OTA rollout just yet, but knowing Samsung, it shouldn't be too far behind.
Other countries should follow over the coming days, with priority given
to unlocked versions of the Note 2. Carrier-branded models are subject to more approvals and testing, so they tend to lag when it comes to system updates.
According to the folks at Sam Mobile, who put the update through its paces, the Android 4.4.2 update for the Galaxy Note 2 brings all the KitKat-specific features found on other Samsung devices, including support for cloud printing, NFC tap-to-pay support, all white icons in the status bar, full-screen album art, and the ability to put a camera shortcut on the lockscreen. The phone's performance and general smoothness seems to have been improved, and we expect that a number of bug fixes and tweaks have been applied under the hood.
In terms of Samsung features, the most visible are the Knox security suite and Wallet, Samsung's own mobile payments app.
This is an official build bearing the N7100XXUFND3 version number. To check for your update, go to Settings > About phone > Software update on your phone, though it's also worth trying plugging your Note 2 in Kies for a manual check.

Device models to start receiving it in the coming weeks are tipped by AndroidOrigin to be: International GT-N7100, China Unicom Gt-N7102, International GT-N7105, China Mobile GT-N7108, Verizon SCH-i605, US Cellular SCH-R950, AT&T SGH-i317, Bell, Rogers, SaskTel and Telus SGH-i317M, T-Mobile SGH-T889, Mobilicity, Videotron and WIND SGH-T889V, Sprint SPH-L900, China Telecom SCH-N719, NTT DoCoMo SGH-N025, KT SHV-E250K, LG U+ SHV-E250L, and SK Telecom SHV-E250S.
Meanwhile, the executive director of product management at HTC, Mo Versi, took to Twitter to confirm that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update and Sense 5.5 will be coming to users from 24 April.
The device was launched back in December 2012 with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean but was largely forgotten about after the release of the HTC One and the HTC One (M8).
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners will finally receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update for their devices as the firmware has now been made available for the international variant of the phablet.
Several devices like Galaxy Note 3, Nexus 5, Moto X, HTC One, Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact, Xperia Z Ultra and LG G2 have received Android 4.4 KitKat update but not Galaxy Note 2.
Android 4.4 KitKat for the international variant of Galaxy Note 2 has showed up on Kies and is available in France, according to SAMMOBILE. The report added that the software, with build number N7100XXUFND3, may have all the goodies and features seen in the operating system, and might be made available in other regions too.
The new firmware may have features like smoother interface and faster performance, white status bar icons,
full-screen album art and a camera shortcut on the lock screen, wireless printing and NFC tap-to-pay support, options to set default messaging and launcher apps, transparent status bar, and better stability, according to SAMMOBILE.
It was earlier reported that select models of Galaxy S3, which revolutionized the Samsung brand, would receive the Android 4.4 KitKat update soon, without specifying the time.
The Galaxy S3 models that may receive the KitKat OS update, according to G4Games website, are: GT-I9305, SHV-E210K/L/S, SGH-T999/L, SGH-I747, SGH-N064, SGH-N035, SCH-J021, SCH-R530, SCH-I535, SCH-S960L and SCH-S968C. The report added that models like GT-I9300, SCH-I939 and SCH-S968C which have only 1 GB of RAM may not receive the update as they may not be able to handle KitKat.
Sony has also confirmed that Android 4.4 KitKat OS update will be made available to its devices – Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z in May. XperiaBlog reported that Sony has updated the respective software support pages of Xperia Z, ZR, ZLand the Tablet Z with a message “Next version Android 4.4 (KitKat) 2014-05″.

Here are some good news for the Galaxy Note II owners across the globe – Samsung has just started to rollout the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the international model.
The firmware update brings the latest Android KitKat 4.4.2 version, which will make your system even faster and snappier, it will also bring fullscreen album art and camera shortcut on the lockscreen, transparent status bar,
wireless printing capabilities among others.
Naturally, Samsung’s latest TouchWiz features are also on board – you get Samsung KNOX and Samsung Wallet plus some other minor goodies we’ve met across other devices. The update won’t bring you the Galaxy S5 UI and icons though, in case you were hoping for them.
The first country to get the new update is France, but more markets should be following suit very soon. It is available over-the-air, so you should start keeping an eye on the Settings->About->Software Update menu.
There are no signs of an Android 4.4.2 update for the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 to appear anytime soon. Previous reports stated that the Android 4.4.2 Kitkat update will be released in May, however a date has yet to be announced.
According to reports, the Android 4.4.2 Kitkat update will likely be out by May, but before that the South Korean tech giant has to send it to carriers for certification. Carriers will process the certification for quite a while, so the length of the wait will depend on them. If the reported timeframe holds true, the update is
expected to be available for Note 2 devices by the end of May.
The delay of the Android Kitkat update may prompt some Note 2 holders to go for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update instead – an OS update Samsung has been rolling out in phases, but which still is not complete months later, and the only update available for the Galaxy Note 2.
The Android 4.4.2 Kitkat update is reported for the following device models: AT&T SGH-i317, Bell, China Mobile GT-N7108, China Telecom SCH-N719, China Unicom Gt-N7102, International GT-N7100, International GT-N7105, KT SHV-E250K, LG U+ SHV-E250L, Mobilicity, NTT DoCoMo SGH-N025, Rogers, SaskTel and Telus SGH-i317M, Sprint SPH-L900, SK Telecom SHV-E250S, T-Mobile SGH-T889, US Cellular SCH-R950, Verizon SCH-i605, Videotron and WIND SGH-T889V.
When ready, device owners can opt to update their devices through Odin. They will not need their carrier to release the update and manually update their Note 2 and Galaxy S3 devices.
Meanwhile, Verizon customers who have the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Note 3 or S4 devices, will have the latest Android version update about a month from now. According to Rootzwiki, the Big Red will roll out the update for Note 2 and Note 3 by May 23. The S4 devices will receive the update five days later, on May 28.
Samsung users remained on the lookout for announcements about the Android 4.4 and Android 4.4.2 updates. Devices like Samsung Galaxy S4 have received the update although some users may have to wait depending on their region and carrier. Recent information suggests that Samsung Galaxy S3 users should not worry as latest announcements reveal several S3 models in line to receive the Android KitKat update. The same may go as well for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 users.
According to a report by Android Geeks, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update should roll out in May to these Samsung Galaxy S3 models: GT-I9300, GT-I9305, SHV-E210K, SHV-E210L, SHV-E210S, SGH-T999/L, SGH-I747, SGH-N064, SGH-N035, SCH-J021, SCH-R530, SCH-I535, SCH-S960L, SCH-S968C, SPH-L710, SCH-I939 and SCH-S968C.
However, not all Galaxy S3 models are included in the list. Users of other models should wait for further announcements about the update. Google clarified before that users only need to allot 512 MB of their device’s RAM to install the update. The update should be accessible to flagship models in previous years. Delayed or missing updates may depend on the carrier or the region. Some manufacturers have to tweak updates based on their offerings.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS update will roll out in May.
The 4.4.2 version of the Android Kitkat OS was still unavailable to waiting fans. However, Android Origin reported that the update will be released in May. However, no exact date has been announced.
Meanwhile, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean was still rolling out to users. It seemed that as if all the Galaxy Note 2 smartphones will be updated to Jelly Bean so Samsung can start rolling out the KitKat OS for the device.
Amidst growing concerns on whether Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 will get the latest KitKat update or not, a report has surfaced online, suggesting that the South Korean company is keen to release the new OS firmware to its 2012 flagship phones probably by next month.
Technology blog Android Geeks has gotten hold of the list of Galaxy Note 2 and S3 variants, which are slated to the new KitKat update in May.

SCH-I939 (Chinese model)
The revelation comes close on the back of reports from technology blog Ruliweb, which claims that Samsung is certain to release updates to the company’s 2012 marquee phones.
In February, Samsung USA had officially confirmed that Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 (2GB RAM model) would receive the latest Android OS update but details on the specific timeline of the release was never revealed.
So far Samsung has released KitKat update only to Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition), in almost all markets.
Other expected devices slated to taste the new chocolate-wafer flavored OS are Galaxy S4 Mini, S4 Active, S4 Zoom, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3, S3 Mini, Galaxy Mega, Galaxy Light, and tablets such as Galaxy Note 8.0, Note 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 3.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean continues rolling out on more Samsung Galaxy Note 2 devices, but Android 4.4.2 KitKat is still missing in action. It seems like all Galaxy Note 2 smartphones will soon be updated to Jelly Bean, as Samsung is preparing to start rolling out KitKat.
We expect Samsung to release the KitKat update in May, but no exact date has been offered, unfortunately. It seems like they will start rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for both the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3, as you've probably read in our previous article.
We have a list of models that should receive the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update soon and here they are: International GT-N7100, China Unicom Gt-N7102, International GT-N7105, China Mobile GT-N7108, Verizon SCH-i605, US Cellular SCH-R950, AT&T SGH-i317, Bell, Rogers,
SaskTel and Telus SGH-i317M, T-Mobile SGH-T889, Mobilicity, Videotron and WIND SGH-T889V, Sprint SPH-L900, China Telecom SCH-N719, NTT DoCoMo SGH-N025, KT SHV-E250K, LG U+ SHV-E250L, and SK Telecom SHV-E250S.
If there have been any model missed out, please let us know and we will try to find out more information about it.
Samsung will probably have the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update ready by May and they will start sending it to carriers for certification, which can take a while, depending on the carrier. We don't expect the update to roll out to all devices by the end of May, as it sometimes takes months. You can watch the Jelly Bean update, which isn't even finished yet, even though it's now months old.
Once the update is ready and we manage to get our hands on it, we will let you know. We will offer it to you so you can update manually through Odin, so you don't have to wait for your carrier to release it.
If you have any information about the update or even questions for us, please leave us a comment in the form below. We keep watching Samsung in order to find out more information for our readers and we will keep you posted.
[NOTE] This Samsung Galaxy Note 2 KitKat article will be constantly updated with the latest findings so look for the bolded [UPDATE] paragraphs if you've been here before.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 KitKat (Android 4.4.2) Update: What We Know So Far
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update continue to roll out as Android 4.4 KitKat for both devices looms on the horizon.
Back in October, Samsung announced that it would be delivering a crucial Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The update was deemed crucial because it delivered not only Samsung Knox for an extra blanket of security but it also brought Galaxy Gear to Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 users.
The updates also delivered features from Samsung's newer Galaxy smartphones including the Galaxy S4. Both the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates brought new Galaxy S4 camera features to the table, bringing the two aging former flagships up to speed. Needless to say, both updates were anticipated amongst the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 community.
These two roll outs began in November after the Galaxy S4 started receiving its Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. The updates pushed out to devices across the globe and by the end of December, the two updates had completed for users in the United States. Verizon was the last to both of these important updates though in the grand scheme of things, Verizon wasn't anywhere close to last.
Both the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates have been pushing out in 2014 and even now, in April, neither update is complete. There are still several updates that remain missing though today, Samsung scratched two big name devices off of its list as Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo says that it has finally deployed both updates for its Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 models.
The carrier made the announcements on its website and it appears that both updates are now available for Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 owners. The update delivers Galaxy Gear support and it also comes with a number of carrier specific upgrades including a brand new NTT DoCoMo backup application. Carriers typically put their own unique spin on Android updates so it's not surprising to see the Japanese carrier bring some unique enhancements to Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 users.
These two updates are among the last Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates left to roll out. Australian carrier Optus still owes a Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to owners of its 4G model and Telstra, an Australian carrier, still needs to deliver its Galaxy S3
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update.
Both Australian carriers plan to push the update out in April though they have refused to deliver a specific date to their users due to the testing process. Testing can often push an update back.
These two updates roll out in the midst of rumors about Android 4.4 KitKat updates for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2, both of which have been confirmed by Samsung USA and others.
Earlier this week, a rumor suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update would arrive in late April or early May in Korea. That timing was passed along by a Samsung customer service representative and still hasn't been publicly confirmed by Samsung itself. This means that it's possible but unconfirmed.
Other Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat release rumors have also suggested that both the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat updates will emerge in April or May.
Two days ago, a respected source indicated that the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 would not be getting an Android 4.4 KitKat update. The source claims that the update still hasn't shown up in testing, a sign that Samsung may not be preparing an update for public release. While this might seem strange, it does add up with early information.
While we've seen a number of carriers confirm Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates, we still haven't seen carriers, other than Sprint, confirm Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat updates. We do expect some Galaxy S3 carriers to deliver Android 4.4 KitKat but it does look like the update's roll out will be limited to the LTE model.
When the updates do arrive for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2, they're expected to be similar to the updates that rolled out to the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 earlier this year. Both of those updates offered subtle Android 4.4 KitKat changes instead of major TouchWiz upgrades. Samsung Galaxy S5 software features could arrive for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 but they will likely not arrive with Android 4.4 KitKat.
While the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 will get Android 4.4 KitKat, it's not clear if Android 4.4 KitKat will be their last updates. Both devices are approaching their second birthday and Samsung typically kills software support after a device turns two. The company likely won't confirm such details until well after Android 4.4 KitKat emerges for both aging smartphones.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update is getting closer. With that in mind, we take a look at the most recent and the most important Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update details as we wait for Samsung to deploy the long awaited upgrade from Google's Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners have taken an interesting path to Android 4.4 KitKat. When the device was first announced back in 2012, it was one of the first devices to sport Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. Many believed that the Galaxy Note 2 would be among the first to receive the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update that arrived that November but unfortunately, that didn't pan out.
Instead of a quick upgrade to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, Samsung skipped over the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update, a move that forced Galaxy Note 2 owners to wait for Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Android 4.3 Jelly Bean didn't arrive until November of last year, almost six months after the update was first announced.
Currently, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean but it appears that it may not be that way for long. Many weeks ago, Samsung confirmed that it would be delivering a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update in the United States. Samsung Poland quickly confirmed that it too would be offering Galaxy Note 2 owners an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade.
Since then, Galaxy Note 2 details have have pouring out, teasing Galaxy Note 2 users with future upgrades and possible Android 4.4 KitKat update release dates.
As we move deeper into April, it's clear that we're nearing the start of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat roll out. And with Galaxy Note 2 users looking for answers, we think its appropriate to take a look at everything that we know about the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 upgrade and roundup all of the important details for owners of Samsung's aging former flagship.
Android 4.4 KitKat Should Land For Everyone
At this point, it can be assumed that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update will be rolling out to every single Galaxy Note 2 model on the planet. Samsung USA confirmed it, Samsung Poland confirmed it, Sprint in the U.S. has confirmed it, carriers in Australia have confirmed it, a French carrier recently confirmed it, and the update recently showed up in a benchmark for a model based in Korea.
This should not come as much of a shock to anyone. The Galaxy Note 2 boasts some powerful internals including 2GB of RAM and a quad-core processor. It's more than capable of handling Android 4.4 KitKat, an incremental update that is designed with lower spec'd devices in mind. Obviously, release dates will not be created equal but we'd be shocked if Galaxy Note 2 models missed out on the upgrade to Android 4.4. Whatever is next is another story.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is approaching its second birthday. Samsung typically kills off support in an around the two year mark. That puts the Galaxy Note 2 into a bit of a gray area at the moment and because of that, Galaxy Note 2 owners are in a bit of a gray area when it comes to the release of the next major Android update, said to be Android 4.5 this summer.
Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat Release Rumored
So now that we've gotten that out of the way, let us speak on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update release date. Unfortunately, Samsung did not confirm any specific timing when it announced the update several months ago which once again means that most Galaxy Note 2 owners are, once again, at the mercy of carriers.
Most carriers do not release specific release date details which means that most owners trudge along towards a release date in the dark. Rumors help set the stage but rarely are they definitive given that software update release dates can change
at the drop of a hat.
All along, we've heard that the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update will deploy in either April or May. The latest rumor suggests that its release could be imminent as a Samsung customer service representative in Korea suggested that it could deploy in mid-April. That remains unconfirmed but it does line up with the timing we've seen from several carriers.
Weeks ago Optus, a small Australian carrier, announced that it planned to roll out the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update in April. Recently, French carrier SFR claimed that it plans to roll the update out in May. The update can't escape either month and at the moment, it's looking like it may start rolling out within the next six weeks or so.
Most Android 4.4 KitKat Releases Weeks Away
The roll out could start any day now but most releases are likely weeks away if not months away. Optus says that it still hasn't received the update from Samsung. That means that its update is still weeks away at least because the carrier is going to need to put the device through proper testing before it can be released.
Vodafone Australia also recently confirmed the update for arrival but it also says that it has yet to receive the update from Samsung. Its testing process typically takes several weeks at least which means that its arrival is still a number of weeks away at least.
Samsung's Android update roll outs typically take a number of months before they deploy to every single Galaxy device. Take for example, the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates. The Galaxy S4 update has been rolling out since October, the Galaxy S3 update since November, and yet there are still updates that have yet to roll out.
The Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat updates still haven't completed either. They have been rolling out since the beginning of the year and major carriers like Verizon are still lagging.
So while we could certainly see the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update deploy in mid-to-late April or even May, there will likely be some updates that emerge during the summer time, months after the start date. We're already seeing the signs.
Feature-Set Should Be Familiar
Finally, we haven't heard anything extraordinary about the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update itself. That is to say that we haven't heard any whispers or seen any carriers confirm anything out of the ordinary. Instead, it's looking like the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update will be fairly similar to the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat updates that have been rolling out.
What this means is that all Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update's should contain these features, rather than Samsung Galaxy S5 software features:
Location Menu: An integrated location menu enables users to easily activate GPS, Wi-Fi and mobile networks, while simultaneously checking the battery usage of apps running location service capabilities.
Enhanced Messaging: Enables users to choose between Messages or Hangouts as their preferred default messaging application, and select from a larger assortment of updated Emoji icons.
Upgraded Google Mobile Service (GMS) apps: Users can automatically back up photos and video and can open, view, rename and share Google Docs and files.
Of course, we fully expect carriers to put their own twist on these updates with specific fixes and enhancements for their version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
At this point, this is everything that we think Samsung Galaxy Note 2 owners need to know about Android 4.4 KitKat so at this point, most can just sit back, relax, and wait for Android 4.4 KitKat to arrive.
Even though the Korean phone maker confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update will be rolled out later this year, the company failed to announce the ETA. Anyway, there are signs that Samsung will push the Android 4.4.2 update for Galaxy Note 2 in late April or early May.
Soon after Samsung officially announced that the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update will be issued for the Galaxy Note 2, several carriers confirmed that they will also push the update to their users. Australia's Opus was one of them saying they'll release it mid-April, but they subsequently announced the have pushed back the update to an unknown date.
The release date of the Android 4.4.2 update for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 came back in discussion after Korean publication Daum wrote that a customer service representative told them that the new firmware will be released mid-April, which checks out with the initial roll out date announced by Opus. Anyway, the representative was allegedly speaking about the update's release for the Korean market.
Furthermore French carrier SFR said they will make the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 update available for download by the end of May.
It's not
uncommon to hear that Korea is in the front line for receiving the new OS update, as Samsung is usually releasing new updates in their home-country first.
Because it's an incremental update, Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will arrive with quite a few changes and improvements. Besides the usual KitKat goodies such as white status bar icons, full screen immersive mode, cloud printing, color emoji support, full screen album art for the lockscreen, camera shortcut in lockscreen, better power management, and stronger security, the new firmware should also apply minor tweaks to the TouchWiz UI, bring updated native Samsung apps, improved Samsung Keyboard, and other such changes, most of them borrowed from the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3.
The new TouchWiz version that comes pre-loaded on the Samsung Galaxy S5 contains a lot of software improvements, but it's unknown when they will be made available for the likes of Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, or Galaxy Note 2, or if they are made available at all for the later one.
As usual, the new update will be rolled out in stages, meaning that the ETA may vary depending on region and carrier. As you may know, once your device will be eligible to receive the new firmware, a system update message will pop out in the notification area to let you know. It's also worth performing a manual check under Settings > More > About Phone > System updates > Check for updates, or to grab the USB cable, connect your Note 2 to the PC, and check for the new firmware through KIES.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates have been confirmed though they are still without official release dates. However, if new information is correct, Samsung is planning to roll out the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat updates in April or May.
Weeks ago, Samsung USA confirmed the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates for arrival. Shortly after it confirmed the updates, Samsung Poland announced that it would be issuing the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 LTE Android 4.4 KitKat updates in the future. It, like Samsung USA, did not confirm any specific dates.
In the weeks since those announcements, we've seen a number of carriers confirmed Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates. Australian carrier Optus originally targeted a roll out sometime in April though its target release has since been pushed back and it currently lists the update without a target date.
So far, Optus is the only carrier to have issued any kind of timing for the software though we do expect to hear more about both updates in the near future, especially if new information is accurate.
New Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update release details have surfaced today thanks to information from Korean publication Daum. The information comes from a supposed chat with a Korean Samsung customer service representative who evidently detailed some very specific release date information for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2.
Customer service reps often pass along inaccurate information but this information lines up with everything that we've heard and seen about the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat updates so it certainly worth pointing out.
According to rep, the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update will land in Korea in mid-April. This lines up with what Optus originally said about the update and it could explain why carriers like Vodafone Australia and French carrier SFR plan to push out these updates in the near future. SFR says that it will have the update out by the end of May.
The rep also says that Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update, which has been a bit of a flashpoint in recent weeks, should land in Korea in late April or early May.
Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update release date rumors pointed to a release in April or May so this timing makes sense, even if it's still unconfirmed.
Korea is typically on the front lines for major Android updates so it could be that these two time frames represent the start of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update roll outs.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update has been a source of controversy for some time now. While Samsung USA and Sprint confirmed the update for arrival, Samsung Poland announced that it would be skipping Android 4.4 KitKat for the 1GB version of the Galaxy S3. We also heard, just a few weeks ago, that the Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 Android 4.4 KitKat update was still not in testing, a sign that it could be lagging behind the rest of the pack.
Since then, we haven't seen any other U.S. carriers confirm the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update and the update remains MIA in the updated plans of foreign carriers. Even SFR, a carrier that released the schedule all the way into May, left the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update off of its plans.
Samsung's Galaxy Note 2 is in a much better position. Carriers have already confirmed its arrival and it's slated to enter testing in the near future. From the look of things, there is a very good chance that it will roll out before the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update, just like this customer service representative suggests. The Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update also rolled out before the Galaxy S4?s.
Both updates are expected to be incremental updates and deliver Android 4.4 KitKat features rather than huge changes to TouchWiz. The Galaxy S5 recently arrived with an updated version of Samsung's software though it's still not clear when, or if, the Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2 will receive the new functionality.
Historically, Samsung has bestowed new TouchWiz software features upon its older users but given the age of both the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2, nothing is certain at this point. Samsung could opt to kill support for the Galaxy S3, a device that is closing in on its second birthday. The Galaxy Note 2 however is much younger and thus, has a better chance of getting new features or another update from Google.
Rumors suggest that Google will announce an Android 4.5 update later on this year, possibly in July alongside a brand new Nexus 8 tablet to replace the Nexus 7 2013. It's still not clear what the brand new update will have on board. It's also not clear if it will be a KitKat update or something far more substantial.
A Samsung tech support employee recently divulged to a customer that the Galaxy Note 2 should begin to update to Android 4.4 in mid-April while the Galaxy S3 should begin to update in early May, Korean tech website Duam reports. These dates will likely coincide with Android 4.4 update for Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 models in Korea; however, once these models start updating models in other markets should also be on the pipeline to update soon.
Considering the time frame; the Galaxy Note 2 at least could begin updating to Android 4.4 in a matter of days; however, this has not been confirmed by Korean mobile networks. Samsung has long confirmed that the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 will be among many devices to update to Android 4.4, but has noted that each carrier will determine its own rollout dates. Thus far, only Sprint in the U.S. has
confirmed its plans to update the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 to Android 4.4, though the carrier still has not specified a rollout timeline.
In March, a leaked document surfaced indicating that the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 may update to Android 4.4 in April or May. Tech website Just About Phones determined that the document was discarded due to an error in the model number listed for the Galaxy Note 2, which made it available for leaking. In November, a similar document leaked, also indicating that the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 may update to Android 4.4 between March and April.
Other reports have suggested that the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 would begin updating to Android 4.4 after Galaxy S4 updated to the new system. The Galaxy S4 is still in the process of updating to Android 4.4, though most models in major markets have updated. Tentative rollout plans manufacturers and carriers make months in advance often end up falling though by the time device actually begin to update.
While we wait for the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 to update to Android 4.4, users can check for the update manually by accessing Settings > General > About device > Software update on their handsets.
Android 4.4 KitKat for Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 coming this month.BestList
Samsung’s 2012 flagship smartphones, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 will reportedly get Android 4.4 KitKat by this month.
Last month, it was rumoured that Samsung was testing the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the second generation Galaxy Note. GFXBench posted a listing of the South Korean variant of Galaxy Note 2 bearing the model number
SHV-E250. The data in the listing suggested that Android 4.4.2 for the Note 2 was noted in the OS section.
As for the Galaxy S3, it was earlier rumoured that the smartphone would not receive the Android KitKat upgrade as it had a 1GB RAM, whereas the Android 4.4.2 was heavily optimised to run smoothly on smartphones having only 512MB RAM.
But if the latest report is to be believed these two aforementioned smartphones of Samsung will receive the KitKat upgrade soon.
According to Gforgames, a certain Samsung customer from Korea managed to get in touch with Samsung’s support line. When asked about the KitKat update for Galaxy S3 as well as Galaxy Note 2, he was informed that Samsung was expected to release Android 4.4 for Galaxy Note 2 in the middle of this month.
This is contrary to the previous report, which claimed that the KitKat update was almost ready and Samsung would reportedly be sending it to the carrier for certification soon. The update is expected to come sometime at the end of this month.
Besides, the Samsung representative mentioned that the Galaxy S3 would receive the KitKat upgrade sometime either at the end of this month or, in early May.
It should be noted that these KitKat release time frames for Note 2 and Galaxy S3 are only for South Korea. But if these devices receive the Android 4.4 update around April and May in South Korea, the global roll-out of the update should not be far behind.
Official Android 4.4 KitKat for Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 remains unreleased but several signs have been outlined regarding its development including expected rollout by late April to May 2014.
