Edible Gardening Exchange to meet

The Edible Gardening Exchange will meet on Feb. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the North Fort Myers Community Center, at 2000 N. Recreation Park Way, North Fort Myers; informal chat at 5:30 pm

Speaker Cory Dombrowski, with Sakata Seeds of Fort Myers, willprovide insight on how to save seeds for Future Generations, including how to preventable seeds from cross pollinating, controlling seed Transmitted Diseases and how to clean, dry and store seeds.

 
 
 

Membership through March is $ 10, plus a $ 10 Lee Parks and Recreation membership.

Gulf Coast Writers to honor winners

The Gulf Coast Writers Association will meet on Feb. 20 from 10 am to noon at the Alliance for the Arts, at 10091 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers.

A special celebration in honor of the annual writing contest winners will take place.

Enjoy refreshments, and music, with a surprise honorary speaker.

Band to play concert

The Lehigh Concert Band will perform on Feb. 21 at 3 pm in Sweat Cover Hall at Faith Lutheran Church, at 705 Leeland Heights Blvd.

Fort Myers Beach Yacht Club schedules meeting

The Fort Myers Beach Yacht Club will meet on Feb. 24 from 8 to 9 p.m. at the American Legion Post 274, at 899 Buttonwood Drive, Fort Myers Beach.

Social hour begins at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m .; Dinner is available for $ 12 per person.

Call for Artists

The Arts of the Inland ice searching for artists for its Inspirations Art Show, Which opens March 3 at the Barron Park House Gallery, at 471 N. Lee St., LaBelle.

Artists can submit up to two pieces of two-dimensional or three-dimensional art work, with a $ 10 per piece fee for members or $ 20 per piece fee for non-members.

Accepted 2D mediums are oil, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, collage, stained and fused glass, pen and ink, pencil, charcoal, pastel and photography, digital art and hanging textile art.

Works, excluding textile nature, must be framed or gallery wrapped with painted staple free edges.

They must be wired for hanging and framed works larger than 24-by-30 must use plexi-glass / acrylic.

Works larger than 48-by-48 must be pre-Approved by the gallery director and will count as two pieces if accepted.

Sculpture and 3D must not Exceed 40 pounds in weight; artist must providesprofessional own pedestal.

Works must have been completed within the last two years.

Work must originals; Those thathave received an award higher than honorable mention in any AOI or Art Council of Southwest Florida show Are Not Eligible.

Applications and fees must be received by March 1st

The Inspirations Art show is juried / judged, with cash prizes and ribbons awarded.

The show will run March 3-26 at the gallery, Which is open Thursdays through Sundays from noon to 5 pm

Community Band lists performances

The Lee County Community Band will perform:

The scheduled concerts will take place at 3 pm at Cape Coral High School, at 2300 Santa Barbara Blvd, Cape Coral.

They are free and open to the public; donations are accepted.

The Lee County Community Band rehearses Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Michael Lutheran School in Fort Myers.

Night for Life IX to Benefit Fund

The Night for Life IX fundraiser will be held on April 11 from 5 to 9 pm at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater, at 1380 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers.

Entertainment will feature The Del Prados, as well as a performance by the cast of “Funny Girl.”

There Will be silent and Chinese auctions, with the items to include original art, jewelry, golf packages, boat trips, vacations, dinners, services, Unique gifts and more.

The event benefits the Fletcher Trust Fund, Which assists transplant recipients and Those waiting for transplants.

Cost is $ 35 or $ 50 for VIP seating and includes a buffet dinner.

Community pool holding classes

The Lehigh Acres Community Pool, at 1400 W. Fifth St., is heated and open year-round.

– Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:30 am at Veterans Park

– Wednesdays from 6 to 7 pm and Saturdays from 7:30 to 8:30 am at the Healthy Harvest Farms Community
