As the year enters its mid phase, the tech grapevine revolves around an increasing number of speculations regarding Samsung's Android 4.4 KitKat update plans. Android KitKat was announced in the September of last year around the iPhone launch.
Google announced the Android 4.4 KitKat update in October together with a new Nexus 5 smartphone, after which the update was released for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 10 and Nexus 7. Companies such as Samsung, LG, Motorola, HTC and Sony have released Android 4.4 KitKat updates.
At present, Samsung is rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat updates for Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 3. These devices are among 14 Galaxy devices that are confirmed to receive the update.
The details regarding the updates for Samsung Galaxy Note 2—GT-N7100 update and GT-N7105 Android 4.4 KitKat update—are being surfaced slower than expected. Users in France and India have received the update; however, US is still awaiting any development on the front.
Sprint was the first US carrier to roll out the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.3 update. The update rolled out at the end of last month brought about many changes to Android 4.4 features and Samsung Knox 2.0 as a security feature. Through this update, the Galaxy Note 2 will get to flaunt features such as improved battery life, wireless-printing support, full-screen album art, white status bar icons and stability fixes. Android 4.4.3 KitKat contains bug-fixing patches rather than more features than earlier updates.
Samsung recently updated its AT&T Galaxy Note 2 product page with KitKat listed as the current operating system. Samsung is known to confirm updates long before their arrival so it does confirm the update. T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon have maintained their silence over the update as has been noticed earlier when they have made official announcements a few days before the rollout.
