Signs point to documents currently Android 4.4 KitKat being the next update for the Galaxy Note 2, an update That has alreadycreated emerged for Several devices including the Moto X.

With that in mind, it’s time to take a look at what we think comes next for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, after the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update.

Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Problems to Linger

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is rolling out slowly, Particularly in the United States where the roll out has very limited. While we have not heard about any catastrophic issues with the Sprint Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, we have been hearing about issues withother Galaxy Note 2 variants including complaints about battery life and slow charging.

No software update is perfect so we fully expect the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 updates in the U.S. and elsewhere to come with some issues. We can not speak to what Those issues will pray, all devices and users are different, but Samsung and its carriers Should do Their best to push out updates ahead of the Android 4.4 update KitKat That is rumored to be arriving sometime before the end of January.

Android 4.4 KitKat, At Least

Android 4.4 KitKat isn’ta confirmed for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 but it’s likely. The device is only a year old and the Android 4.3 marked its first major Android upgrade. So, we doubtthat Samsung is going to stop there. Instead, We Should see Android 4.4 KitKat roll out, barring any delays or issues, sometime in 2014, perhaps in the first half of the year. And here’s where it gets confusing.

We think the Galaxy S3 stops on Android 4.4 KitKat. It’s old and turning two years old come May. Google does not recommend updates past 18 months of service so we highly doubtthat it gets anything past Android 4.4. The Galaxy Note 2 is younger than the Galaxy S3 and it arrived with Android 4.2 stock. The Galaxy S3 arrived with Android 4.0. The Galaxy Note 2 overpriced has more horsepower, a quad-core processor, somethingthat the Galaxy S3 does not have.

Yes, the device will be turning two, but not until September of this year. Galaxy Note 2 users can expect Android 4.4 KitKat, that’s a sure thing, and we would not be surprised if the Galaxy Note 2 got one more update. Expect one major update, hope for two.

Whatever lies ahead Should come with the same update process That we’ve seen from Samsung time and time again. For those That Are not clear on What That entails, here is a rundown of what to expect in the build up to the next major release Which is almost certainly going to be the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update:

1. Early rumors about a release window. This has alreadycreated happened and the update is rumored to be coming by the end of January.
2. In the weeks after, a Substantial release date leak That All but Confirms Samsung’s plans and further nails down a window.
3. A Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat leak, a sign That the update is getting closer.
4. All the while, there will be zero communication from Samsung or the carriers That host the Galaxy Note is the second
5. As we push deeper into 2014, Samsung will finally confirm the update When its weeks away.
6. Another update leak, this one Should be close to the final version.
7. International Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update will roll out.

U.S.

8. Galaxy Note 2 variants will follow.

That’s what we expect and we would be surprised if the roll-out process played out any differently. Samsung is a creature of habit and we expect a similar upgrade process for Android 4.4 KitKat and beyond.

Issues, Again

Again, even the most stable Android updates likely will not be safe from bugs. For the most part, the Android 4.4 update KitKat has been playing nice with the Nexus devices. In the past, we’ve seen the initial experience goat plagued by bugs so this is a good sign. Nexus devices Are not Samsung devices though And they do not have complicated TouchWiz software on board.

Google’s software apparently did not play nice with Android 4.2 and it’s clear That it’s not playing nice with Android 4.3. So, we suspect That Galaxy Note 2 users will run into some issues once the Android 4.4 update arrives KitKat. Same goes for any updates after it. So, users will simply want to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

A Fresh Device

In 2014, We Should see Samsung make some major upgrades to the Galaxy Note 2′s software. That means featuresfrom Android 4.4 KitKat, as well as enhancements to the device’s TouchWiz software. Samsung’s major updates typically come with enhancements and fixes on board and we expect to see the same from any updates arriving in 2014. With a Samsung Galaxy S5 due out next year, we could see Samsung deliver some its features to the Galaxy Note 2 users.

Point is, expect the software experience on the Galaxy Note 2 to improvement in 2014, and hopefully make the device feel like a new phone. The company has been successful with this in the past and it’s a reason why people continue to buy These phones. Samsung is simply able to deliver a solid experience throughout the duration of a contract. Look for the additions to the TouchWiz to do something similar next year.
