Xiaomi has launched two new smartphones today – the Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A, the successors to the company’s popular Redmi 3 smartphone lineup. Xiaomi has launched the devices in the 'affordable' mid-range market, where devices like the Redmi Note 3, Redmi 3, Redmi 3S Prime have previously done well. Xiaomi’s Redmi 4 devices will be 4G VoLTE capable. The company has launched three variants of the phone: the Redmi 4 Pro Edition, Redmi 4 standard edition, and the Redmi 4A
Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro edition sports a 5-inch TFT display with 1080p resolution with 2.5 D curved glass. The phone is running on a 2.0 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, and will be featuring 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of storage (expandable to 128GB).
The phone comes with a 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, and a 5MP front shooter. Xiaomi’s Redmi 4 is backed by a 4,100 mAh battery, same as the Redmi Note 3. The new Redmi phone will be running the latest MIUI 8 version over Android Marshmallow.
The Redmi 4 standard edition comes with a 720 p resolution and Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.4 Ghz with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage space. The expandable storage remains 128GB via microSD, and the rest of the specifications are the same as well.
the Redmi 4A will come with a quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor, featuring 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The battery on the Redmi 4A will be smaller – 3120 mAh. Both the Xiaomi Redmi 4 phones will be available in China, with the Standard edition priced at 699 Yuan (approx Rs 6,900) and the Redmi 4 Pro available for 899 Yuan (approx Rs 8,800). The phones will be available in three colour variants – Gold, Grey and Silver. The Redmi 4A is priced at 499 Yuan (Rs 4933).
the Redmi 3 was launched earlier this year, and came with a 5-inch IPS LCD display. The phone featured an octa-core Snapdragon 616 chipset, coupled with an Adreno 405GPU. It featured 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, and had a 13MP primary camera with a 5MP front shooter. Xiaomi introduced the Redmi 3S in India, which had a different Snapdragon 430 processor.
Xiaomi had recently launched the Mi Note 2, and displayed its edge-to-edge display concept phone the Mi Mix. Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is however note expected to reach Indian shores like its predecessor, the Mi Note. Xiaomi’s new smartphones are the China exclusive for now.
