Note 2 will not come on after charging

Problems : Hi, my Note 2 was working fine but I connected it to a charger overnight and in the morning it froze. After I removed the battery and Replaced it the power does not turn on. If I keep the power button pressed then the small red light next to camera flashes for 1 sec and nothing happens. I tried a different battery but no response. Even Showed it to a tech and he said “no issues with the hardware except there is no power coming to the motherboard.” Is direct wire connection from the power source to the board the only solution? – Saj

Answer : If it was the technician who suggested there is a need to hardwire your phone then probably knew what the problem really was. But I think this problem is more than just a software glitch: it must be a hardware problem. And since it’s about the phone not powering up, You should set your focus first on the power sources.

Try to plug your phone to your computer and see if the computer can detect it and That the phone would charge. While connected to the computer, power on the phone normally. If it would not respond, press and hold the Power button. If That does not work either, try booting up to Recovery Mode, press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons for at least 7 seconds. If any of These procedures do not work, try a different battery and repeat These procedures.

Before you go any further, by the way, try to inspect the receptors in your phone. If one of them is crooked, try fixing That first to make sure each receptor touches the interface of the battery.

But I do not quite understand what you Meant by “direct wire.” If the phone is alreadycreated out of warranty and you have thought of somethingthat could fix or remedy this problem, then it’s worth-doing but at your own risk. I would still recommend you bring the phone to an Authorized Samsung technician to have it checked properly.

Problems : Hello dears. I use Fring for VOIP. It used to load very fast on my Samsung Galaxy Note second But for the last 5-6 months, it take ages to load and in 99% cases it gives error message “Fring is unable to load … Report, Cancel, OK.” After 10-15 minutes of wait. This app works fine on Nokia E72 and Google Nexus 7 (2013). I tried the translation of application many times but the result was same.

You need to be sure about this so even if there’s no available update, you need to uninstall and reinstall the app. But before you do that, here are some things you need to do:

1. Tap Force Close first.
2. Tap Clear Cache, then Clear Data.
3. Go back to your app drawer and launch Fring. See if it still takes forever to load and return and error at the end. If so, then Proceed with rein-installation of the app.
4. Tap Uninstall button.
5. Reboot the phone.
6. Launch Google Play Store and find Fring.
7. Download and install the app.

After doing this procedure and the app still gives you an error, email the developer of the app and make a detailed report. The Mobile May just need some updating.

Turn off auto-correct feature on Note 2

Problems : Hi, I’m running OS 4.3 on my Note 2 and have a problem with the spell checker. It’s auto-correcting words for me That alreadycreated are correct, so I’ll have to go back and fix them. I’ve had this problem with previous Android phones & have gone to the Settings menu and turn off the auto-correct feature. But I can not find it now. Is there a way to turn off the auto-correct and if so, how? Thanks. – Betty

Answer : Actually, you’re not the only one who emailed my about this problem. While the predictive text is a useful feature, I do not know why it’s so messed up nowadays. More often, the words entered are the ones you really do not want to use. There was a time I supposed to type ‘and’ but the word that was entered was ‘anal’. I seldom use the predictive feature now, it can screw you sometimes.

By the way, I’m not sure what keyboard you’re using but try this:

1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
2. Choose Settings and tap the My Device tab.
3. Tap Language & Input, then the Input Methods.
4. Inside Keyboards, you’ll see Default and Samsung Keyboard.
5. Tap the wheel beside the keyboard’re using.
6. Below the Predictive text is Auto Replacement, toured That option off.

If you can not find the setting to turn off predictive feature, try using a different keyboard app if you desperately need to turn it off.

Transfer saved pages from Note 2 to computer

Question : Hi, how do I copy or transfer internet pages saved from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to my PC with or without Kies? – Johan

Make Wi-Fi primary connection on Note 2

Problems : First, thank you for your column it has be enjoyable to read and I have learned a lot. My current problem with my Note 2 ice, since the 4.3 update. Going from cellular mobile data network (4G/LTE) AT & T to WiFi. Before 4.3 update, all I had to do was turn on my WiFi and the Note 2 would change over to WiFi from mobile data network. The 4G/LTE emblem on top notification bar would change over to the WiFi badge. After 4.3, the only way I can connect to the wifi is to go to setting, then other networks, then turn off mobile data network, then go back and turn on the wifi and it would connect instantly. So THAT about the extents of my problems from the 4.3 update. Any suggestions or fixes you May have would certainly be appreciated! Thanks again. – Don

Answer : There must be one setting that was messed up. To make your Note 2 connect to your WiFi network When it’s turned on, here’s what you need to do:

1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
2. Tap Settings, then the Connections tab.
3. If Necessary turn the WiFi on first, then tap WiFi.
4. Tap the Menu key, then choose Advanced.
5. Check the box beside ‘Auto network switch.’

For now, try to uninstall That app and focus on the stock app. Go to the Messaging app manager, force close the app and clear its cache and data. You May lose your settings and some of your datawhen you do this but it’s worth it.

Such procedure will not solve the problem, we have to other choice but to bring the phone back to its original or default settings and if there’s an available firmware upgrade available, you wouldhave to download and install it to update your phone.

Font not supported on Note 2

Problems : Recently I have updated 4.3 on my Note 2 via WiFi. In Could not Change My language font after updating. Problems : I have had my note 2 for about a month. Bought new and updated to 4.3 then I rooted it. Now Whenever the battery gets low my SIM card unmounts and it has trouble charging and Unless I turn it off for 20 to 30 minutes it will reboot until I remove the battery. Is this fixable? Thank you!

Samsung serves old Galaxy Note II into a new shell, charges a bomb for it - BGR India

Moments ago at the Ongoing Samsung Forum event in Bali, Samsung Launched the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, Which is Essentially a cheaper variant of the flagship Galaxy Note 3rd But what Samsung doing now? Explicitly said ice, That apart from being a cheaper Note flagship, it is overpriced Essentially a repackaged Galaxy Note II, Which was Launched It September 2012. With the latters being available for Rs 30,000 at most online retail stores, there is Rs 11,000 Separating the two devices. Let’s see if the Galaxy Note 3 Neo is worth the extra buck.

1. Form Factor and Design : Both the devices are “big” and need the use of the S Pen to use comfortably. In size, both the devices are nearly the same, but the Galaxy Note 3 Neo is a shade slimmer and much lighter than the Galaxy Note II. The shapes overpriced gets a pleather back, Which gives it a much premium look, especially Compared to the plastic on the latters.
2. Display : Both the devices sport the exact same Super AMOLED 720p display with the same size (5.5-inch) and boasting the same pixel count (267ppi).
3. Specs : Though neither of the devices are what you would call slow, the Galaxy Note 3 Neo is theoretically more powerful than the Galaxy Note II thanks to its hexa-core processor. The latters has to make do with a quad-core Exynos processor, Which is not bad by any means.
4. StorageWorks : Both the devices victims microSD card slot for memory expansion, but the Galaxy Note II offers more internal memory at 16GB Compared to 8GB on the Galaxy Note 3 Neo.
5. Cameras : Though both the devices feature an 8-megapixel camera at the back, the Galaxy Note 3 Neo gets a “shade better” camera (2-megapixel) at the front, while the Galaxy Note II has a 1.9-megapixel camera.
6. Battery and OS : The devices are the same in the rest of the Departments boasting the same 3,100 mAh battery and though the Galaxy Note II started out with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, it has been recently upgraded to 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Though both the devices are quite evenly matched, it all comes down to That Rs 11,000 That separates the two. For the extra buck you will get a more powerful processor and the premium-ness of the pleather back. If looks are what matters then there is but one choice, but if value for money is the priority, then the old warhorse still has life in it.

Galaxy Note 2 4.3 update halted

Problems : Hi Droid Guy, I’m using Note 2 running on Android 4.1.2 and recently I have received 4.3 update OTA. I downloaded the file via Wi-Fi network and while installing That the device asked for permission to reboot. After rebooting the software started to install but after 40% of installing the software update just failed for some reason. I checked for memory but there was more than 5GB available. I again follow the entire process but again after 45% the update failed. I tried two more times but still unable to update my device. Please help and tell me what the possible case May be.

Answer : There is a huge Possibility That the download process was interrupted and the integrity of the package was compromised. It means thatthere could be some integral parts of the filethat were not downloaded fully so the installation could not go through. Possible cause of this is bad internet connectivity and unstable server status of your service provider.

The best thing to do is download the package again and this time make sure you have a really stable internet connection. Install the update once the downloading is finished. If this does not work, try connecting your device to your computer and use KIES to pull the update down and install the update from there.

Can not change Note 2 APN settings

Problems : Dear Droid Guy, I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 T889, unlocked, but I am unable to change the default APN setting. Is there something I can do? Thank you if you are able to respond to this inquiry. – Peter

Answer : Unfortunately, your APN setting was locked out by your service provider. You May need to call your carrier for it. I understand you can not edit your APN, but can you create another APN instead of trying to edit the Existing one? If you can, then do that and use the one you just created.

In cases like this, you May need to unlock your phone. Additionally, installing a custom ROM would help overpriced, Although you wouldhave to root your device to be able to do that, Which would void your warranty.

Can not turn on Note 2 Wi-Fi, Bluetooth

Problems : Hi, I have a problem with my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 it will not connect with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. When I turn it on it go back to off or cancel please can someone help me with this.

Answer : This is not a common problem with the Galaxy Note 2, however, there were considerably a lot of users who encountered it. But the thing is, it could either be a software or hardware issue. Here are somethings you could do to try to fix it:

While the phone is on, remove the battery. Press the Power button for a minute while the battery is not inserted. Place the battery back and turn the phone on. See if your Wi-Fi or BT can now be turned on.

Remove the SD card and reboot the phone. Check if the problem is resolved. This procedure worked for some users.

Boot to Recovery Mode and wipe cache partition. Reboot your phone and check if the problem’s still there.

Perform a factory reset. There were claims That problems like this happen after a bad update.

Take up a screwdriver and loosen the screws a little bit, see if That helps. Other users claim to have fixed this problem by loosening the screws on Their Phone. Something about the WiFi module contacts May be Causing the problem.

If the problem persists, however, demand a replacement unit.

Note 2 can not find newly added music

Problems : Hi, I am using Note 2 for the past 1 year. After I updated the phone to 4.3 Whenever I download music tracks from the internet They do not show up in music player. After restart the phone, that’s the time They show up. What’s the problem? Can you help me? Thank you.

Answer : Actually, there’s no need to do a restart after downloading some tracks off the internet. They May not be found in the “Songs” tab time immediately but you can surely find them under “Recently Added” tab. Only after you chose one of the tracks and play it That They will be added to the list of “Songs” in your device but not in your “Playlist.” You have no problem here, it’s the usual operation of the phone and nothing is wrong.

Note 2 shows two S Note apps

Problems : Hi my name is Saleh and I have a problem with the S Note app from Samsung. The problem started after the Android 4.3 update. I found two S Note apps on my phone and everytime a message pops up saying “S Note has stopped working.” It’s making the phone very slow. Is there anyway to solve this problem? Thanks.

Answer : Yes, there are ways to solve this problem. The first is you need to boot to Recovery Mode and wipe cache partition. You know, every app or service needs to cache data During The firsttime They run to make Their operation aunt the next time They are Launched. After you’ve updated your device, some cached data May have been corrupted and are alreadycreated unusable. However, your phone is required to look For those data and load Their settings. That could be the reason why you’re seeing two S Note apps at a time, Which Eventually lead to the error message “S Note has stopped working” after the phone Detects it’s not possible to run the same apps at the sametime. So, you need to clear the old data to be replaced by R the newer one.

Secondly, if the first procedure failed, you need to do a factory reset. This will bring the phone back to its original or default settings without rolling back to the previous Android version. While updates thwart will not mess up with the settings of your phone but bump your OS to the new version, it is recommended to do a factory reset everytime after you update your device especiallywhen you noticed the phone runs slower than before.

Note 2 Gmail sync error

Problems : Good day. Recently my Gmail not getting synced in my Galaxy Note second I have checked the Setting and it shows sync error. Could you please help me solve this issue. Thanks. – Kamal

Answer : First of all, make sure you have an active internet connection either through Wi-Fi or mobile data. If the phone returns the same error After that, go to the Application Manager, find gmail and clear its cache and data. You May need to setup your account after doing this and you May overpriced lose some of your data. If the problem still persists, there’s no other option but to uninstall Gmail, reinstall it back and setup your account again.

Note 2 freezes randomly

Problems : Hello sir, I recommended for my Galaxy Note 2 lastyear. Recently I updated my phone. After that I caught some serious issues. My phone is hanging Simultaneously after every 3 hours. I thought the update has an issue so I did factory reset my phone but still my phone got hang. Everytime I remove battery and put it again to-use phone. I am really worried about it. I am really a serious user. Uses my gadgets with care. So can you please let me know the problem and the process to get rid of this situation?

Answer : Try Removing the MicroSD card and observed your phone’s performance. If there’s an improvement to its performance, it could be That the microSD card is Causing the issue. Odds are you have a lot of data That the phone would take time reading from it. However, if this does not resolve the issue, do a factory reset and re-flash (install again) your firmware. There is a Possibility That the installation was bad.

Additionally, you May need to wipe the cache partition via the Recovery Mode. There could be some corrupt data That the phone May be using.

Note 2 issues with Facebook and SMS

I have 2 issues from my Galaxy Note 2 (not rooted).

1. 1. When I want to “share” a photo from my pic gallery, or cancel it says “unfortunately, the gallery has stopped.” Yes, if I go to Facebook Directly, I can upload. In an e-mail or text, I start composing 1st, then I can add a pic attachment. Just can not share Directly since upgrade. Weird.
2. second I heard it’s a Samsung thing but when i receive a SMS from friends, I do not receive them right away (USUALLY hours later) eventhough I’m on Wi-Fi. I HAVE TO be on the data? I do not have unlimited data … I only have 2 gigs worth so I do not leave it on all the time, only when I’m out and about. but my wifi is always on when I’m home.

Answer : The first problem is more of an app-specific issue in this case, the Gallery app. However, Facebook integration May have been overpriced Affected so there’s a little chance the FB app overpriced May be Involved. What you need to do is go to the Application Manager and find Gallery. Force close the app and clear its cache and data. Reboot the phone and open Gallery. Try to share a photo and see if the error message still pops up. If it does, do the same to the Facebook app.

About the second problem, well, you need neither Wi-Fi nor mobile data to receive SMS as long as you have good service. You can turn both and still receive SMS provided you are connected to your provider’s network. If your SMS messages do not come in real time, it could be That the service is interrupted and it could either be a device-specific problems or network side. Try sending an SMS messages to your own number to see if you can send just fine and receive it almost time immediately while observing the service bar. If the message does not arrive, contact your service provider.

Note 2 Bluetooth disappeared

Problems : I had the bluetooth on my Galaxy Note 2 When I was in the store picking up my phone. I was asking about the speaker They were selling and sales rep I needed to turn on Bluetooth in order to hear music through the speaker. Well now Bluetooth is not there.

Also now it says no bluetooth available. This is strange Because when i needed it to connect to the wireless speaker it did not say no BT available. In the same location it is overpriced MENTIONED a connection for the Gear for the new Samsung Galaxy and now it’s not MENTIONED either. – Stefani

Answer : Okay, Bluetooth is part of the core services That comewith the phone. You could only get rid of the BT service When you root your phone but in this case, I believe you’re using an unrooted stock firmware. I’m really confused what you Meant by “Bluetooth is not there.” Try going to Settings> Connections tab. You should be able to find the Bluetooth toggle switch from there. For some reason the switch isn’ta there, try to do a factory reset to bring the phone back to its original settings. If there’s an update available, download and install it.

Note 2 reverts to default ringtone

Problems : Hello Droid Guy, my problem Is that once a week or so, all my custom ringtones are forgotten by my Note 2, And they revert to default. I then have to go to each one and reset the custom ringtones. Why is this happening and how can I preventDefault it? Thanks.

Answer : If your custom ringtones are saved in your external storage or microSD card, this problem would keep on happening. There are always times When The external storage is unmounted for some reason. If this happens, it is expected the phone would revert back to the default ringtones as it can not find the custom ones. Additionally, the phone would revert overpriced During The boot up Because Settings are loaded first before the microSD card is read by the phone. To preventable this problem from happening, save the custom ringtones in your phone’s internal storage.

Note 2 freezes When adjusting audio

Problems : Really appreciate your site and have found answers to other issues I have had with my phone, whichhave been minimal thankfully. I currently have run into something though. Just did the Recent firmware update, aside from having to reinstall Several apps, I have an issue with adjusting sound via phonesettings. It freezes when i go to change the volume, the settings That is. In otherwords, I click on apps, click on settings, select my device, sound. Select volume and this freezes. Not all of them seem to freeze, I am able to change some, but not most. I have overpriced noticed some of the apps that i had to reinstall are now crashing occasionally, bump and Skype are primary ones doing this. Wondering if there is a known bug with the firmware? Thanks for any help info. Really appreciate it.

Answer : There were actually bugs with the Most Recent update but not of this nature. My guess would be, the Recent update you did May have corrupted some of the data your installed apps were using. If you do not want to uninstall apps That exhibit the problem then try wiping the cache partition via the Recovery Mode. Observed if the problems still exist. If it does, there’s no other option but to uninstall Those apps and reinstall them back or do a factory reset and setup your phone from scratch. The good thing is, you do not have to download and install the latest update.

Samsung has recently Announced the Galaxy Note 3 Neo for Rs 40.990. The phone’s pricing makes it quite interesting: it falls between the Note II and Note 3 Smartphones Which are now available for about Rs 30,000 and Rs 45,000 respectively.

So what’s new in Note 3 Neo? We have thus Compared the Note 3 Neo with the other two on the basis of Their features to see the difference.

Design and Display

The Note 3 is the slimmest of the trio with only 8.3 mm thickness while Note 2 is the thickest with 9.4 mm thickness. Ironically, Note 3 Neo falls in between the two with 8.6 mm. In terms of height and width, the Note 3 (151.2 x 79.2 mm) and Note 2 (151.1 x 80.5 mm) are almost similar. The new Note 3 Neo is the smallest of the three, with a height of 148.4 mm and width of 77.4 mm.

As quite obvious from the dimension itself, the Note 3 Neo is lighter than the two with 162.5 grams while Note 3 weighs 168 grams and Note 2 weighs 183 grams.

Both the Galaxy Note II and Note 3 Neo comewith 5.5 inch Super AMOLED display and even with the same 1280×720 pixel resolution. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3, justifying its price tag, comes with a bit higher 5.7 inch display with full HD (1920×1080 pixels) resolution. The Note 3′s display has overpriced the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 while the other two do not have thatgives the luxury protection from scratches.

Memory

The Note 3 octa-core version, Which is available in India, comes with 32 GB internal storage and 64 GB of expandable storage slot. It has overpriced huge 3GB of RAM. On the otherhand, in India, the Note 2 is available only in 16 GB internal storage variant Which comes with 2 GB RAM and 64 GB micro SD card slot. Note 3 Neo too comes with 16GB of ROM, 2 GB RAM, and 64 GB micro SD card slot.

OS and CPU

In India, only the Exynos 5 OCTA 5420 octa core processor based Note 3 is available. This octa-core is a combination of a quad-core 1.9 GHz Cortex-A15 chipset and a quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 chip. While Adreno 330 is there to take care of the graphics requirements. It documents currently is based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating systems but Samsung has alreadycreated ‘rolled out the Android 4.4 KitKat version for it. As obvious, the Note 3 is better equipped than the Note 3 Neo Which on the other hand will do better than the Note II.

An informed decision is always the best decision.

What’s more Is that a report claims That Samsung is at least entertaining the idea of ??a cheaper Samsung Galaxy S5. The Galaxy S4 arrived for $ 199.99, or $ 100 cheaper than the Galaxy Note 3, and it Appears That the Galaxy S5 could be even cheaper than that, right from the start. If you can wait a week or so, wait a week or so before buying a device. Who knows, the Galaxy S5 mightjust’ve become your next smartphone. Perhaps not. Even if it isn’ta what you’re looking for, the least you can say That You waited, Examined all of the facts, and made an extremely well informed decision before settling on your next device.
